We knew that there would be a post-required to support not only the new beam, but an existing steel I-beam that terminated in the same spot. When we opened everything up, it became apparent that in order to adequately support both, the post would need to be much larger than we initially thought - if we simply posted the new beam. We got George on Facetime so he could see what was going on and he worked in real-time with his crew to engineer a solution that not only brought the size of the post back in line with everyone's initial expectations, but actually improved upon the existing post which did not have adequate blocking underneath.
