"We were super impressed by Ryan Johnson. In preparing for our full kitchen and attic remodel, we met with so, so many contractors (GCs, flooring, carpenters, architects/engineers, etc) and Johnson Custom Builders truly came out at the top. Ryan was prompt and clear in all of his communications. He got in touch with me right away to schedule an appointment after I requested a bid. He showed up on time, and we had a thorough conversation about our project. He clearly has a lot of great ideas and knows what he is talking about. He quickly caught some elements in our drawings that could be done differently for better effect. As a woman who is interested in design and building, I often feel diminished or disrespected when meeting with contractors, but with Ryan it felt as if he was talking to me as a peer. I deeply appreciate that. After our appointment he promptly sent me a very detailed cost breakdown for a project that was similar in scope to ours, and was patient as I asked clarifying questions. In the end, we decided we wanted the adventure and learning experience of contracting the job ourselves, but will gladly come crawling back to Ryan with our tails between our legs if we end up needing to hire someone."

"We needed some room additions to our small house in Burien. After speaking with several other architects and seeing how flaky they were right off the bat, we were dreading the whole process. After speaking with Char once we knew we were in good hands. Her communication was perfect. We would have weekly updates to go over the process and discuss any changes or recommendations. We were on a tight budget for the building costs, so when we found a contractor that we enjoyed, they were able to understand and calculate an accurate estimate from her drawings that were within our budget. She was able to get all the permitting for the additions from the City of Burien within 3 weeks with no redactions. We would hire her again, as matter of a fact, we did hire her for another build/design, Immediately after designing the house additions, but we just ran out of money for that build. I even recommended her to several other friends with their builds."

"He did a very good job for me. It cost me about $500 more than what I budgeted but landscaping is so labor intensive and I mean it cost a fortune to get anything done with landscaping, but he did a really good job for me. It costs me more than I wanted to spend, but he showed up on the day he said he would with eight people and they worked all day on my yard and then it was done. They work the buds off and my neighbor came over and this was like vow and it looks beautiful. My neighbor wanted help with interior design on her house and stuff and I said what you need to do is you need to subscribe to Angie's list and you need to get on there and you need to get quotes and you need to get at least three quotes and you need to find an interior designer to help you and you can have your house look fabulous. It was worth the extra $500 dollar I paid just from a service point of view. I would use them again. I would call him again to get a bid. Everything is fine except on the pricing because I don't think he was the lowest price, but he definitely wasn't the highest priced. Meanwhile I sold the house in April and in June the prices went up 10% and I could have made another $50000."
