The work included excavating and leveling the site, pouring and re-enforcing the slab, and selecting and purchasing the stone, brick and other materials. In addition to the patio, Mottern also filled in an approx. 12 sq/ft section of brick wall where a door had been converted to a window. The filled-in brick and mortar matches the original 50-year old wall perfectly. Overall, the entire Mottern crew was prompt, responsive, professional, and very skillful. "The job was labor intensive. The wall was done with great artistry. I was pleased throughout until I tried to get the walkway sealed as
Bill suggested to avoid deterioration in the future. He gave me a quote and said they would come in a month when the grout was cured. I also needed one stone fixed that my husband had broken. After dozens of calls and emails to Custom Masonry, I never got a returned call or email. 
Bill spoke of their guarantee for a year, but I don't think that would hold up either since they stay out of contact.
If they are still in business, I assume they don't want a small left over job. This was disappointing after such good service and I will need to hire another company for the follow up.

"The repointing work was generally done well. Old mortar and bricks were removed and new bricks were installed. The craftsmanship was excellent. However, the color of the mortar used differed from that in the rest of the brickwork, so at present it stands out. Sixpenny said to wait a period and then re-evaluate whether any change should be made. I would rate this as an "A" but for the color difference in the mortar that was not expected. The chimney cap work was done well."

"They did an excellent job repairing stone veneer on a retaining wall that had been damaged. They did a good job matching the repair work to the undamaged stone and it looks great and you can't tell it was damaged. After the job was complete they cleaned up the job area. They weren't the lowest price quote I received for this small job but they showed up and got the job done."
