"Brian and I discussed what was needed to seal my basement prior to remodeling. I also asked him about some seepage I was getting between some bricks which are underneath the front steps. When he said they did concrete, too, I asked him about repairing a part of my front walkway where the concrete had separated from the house and from the concrete steps. This was as important as the sealing, since bees have been finding their way into a nest somewhere underneath the separation between the walkway and the steps for years. I once had them exterminated but they came back. Brian estimated $1,100 based on an Angie's List discount that he gave automatically, since I told him I found him through Angie's List.

I had one other estimate that was lower but didn't include the concrete work. After reading the Angie's List reviews and meeting Brian for myself I decided he was someone I wanted to do business with and scheduled the work for 4/16/2012. That was about a week after I called them to ask them to do the work.

I had the day off so was able to watch the whole process. Brian showed up first to go over what was expected, again. It had rained hard the night before and he and I agreed that part of my seepage problem was coming from overflowing gutters, not the concrete separations. This agreed with what the guy who gave me the other estimate said. I still needed the concrete done, though, because of the bees.

As his crew showed up they got right to work. They were all polite and friendly and all spoke good english so I was able to communicate with them easily. Before he left, Brian asked one of the guys to get the ladder out of my garage and clean the gutters for me. Since I'm partially handicapped I certainly appreciated that extra service.

Andy did the sealing, and when I expressed an interest in the process he made a point of calling me down into the basement when he started each phase. I was able to see the polyurethane sealant work its way up the ports and eventually find its way from the inside where he was working to the outside part of the crack. Everything happened just like he said it would. He told me how to cut the tips off the injection ports the next day and left some vinyl gloves with a warning not to touch the sealant because of how sticky it is.

The guys doing the concrete work had a miserable day. It looked like rain all day but they decided it wasn't going to and they were right. Just cold and very windy. They covered the newly poured concrete with a tarp just in case to let it dry overnight.

Everyone on the crew was professional and did a good job of cleaning up. When they needed to come in the house they took their shoes off until they got down to the basement.

The next day my wife got home first and saw that the tarp and the concrete forms were gone and the whole area around the walkway had been cleaned up. She thought the walkway looked great and was very happy about destroying the bee's entrance into our house. One of our neighbors stopped by as she was inspecting the work and he thought it looked great, too, with just the right slope away from the house to carry the water away. When my wife told him how much we paid he was very impressed.

"Following a tornado, I needed to replace the roof, siding, soffits, fascia wrap, and gutters on both my house and my garage. Because this work was being done, we also decided to add new replacement windows. John from Elite Seamless Gutters worked with my insurance adjuster to make sure that my claim was complete and that all of the damage due to the tornado was being covered. His work with the adjuster caused my insurance company to increase the loss payout by 33%. I also know that my job was going to be done with quality materials that are more durable and will last longer than what my insurance company had specified. For instance, .044 vinyl siding rather than .040 siding. A more durable roofing shingle than what my insurance had specified. Other companies I had interview were more than happy to put on the lesser quality, insurance suggested product for the same money. John took the time to make sure that the job would be done right and that it would last. When John's crew was finally able to begin working on my house, his roofing crew of Billy, Darrell and Rupert did a wonderful job of stripping, repairing the unforeseen damage to the decking and covering my roof. At all times they kept my roof protected even when threatened by rain. They even took time to remove a brick chimney for me and cover over the opening before roofing. After the roof was completed, two other men of John's crew, Steve and Brian began to work on the remainder of the exterior of my house. They treated my house as if it was their own. "Background:   This was for a single family brick bungalow built in 1930 in Oak Park.   For years the top concrete ring on my catch basin has been crumbling.  Last year (2010) I had the sewer rodded.   It was done through the catch basin.  When I inspected the catch basin the next week I saw the iron lid was missing and guessed the rodder/rooter had dropped it inside.  I called the rodding company and they denied it but said the worker would call me about it . He never called.  I covered the basin with wood and paving stone to keep it closed.
    Since my regular plumber did not do catch basins, in August 2011 I checked on Angie's list and located some plumber services that seemed to repair catch basins.  After some calls I reached McDonagh .  They gave me an idea of the cost and I arranged for an inspection.  Eventually Pat came and inspected the catch basin and reported it only needed some patching,  replaced concrete  ring on top and lid replaced or restored.  He thought the original lid was on the bottom.  He reported the basin in basically good condition and did not need to be rebuilt, disconnected, reconnected, replaced or filled in.  It was what I hoped and expected.   I got an estimate for $525.00 which was less they they had originally guessed it would cost prior to the inspection over the phone.
    In a few weeks I had the funds to pay for it but then I delayed it for other jobs and misplaced their phone number.   Last week I located the number and called Pat on Monday (12/5/11) hoping they could still do the work before really cold weather came.  They were unscheduled for the next day, Tuesday, and so we set it for 8 am Tuesday.  Pat came  early Tuesday with an assistant and the two of them finished the work in 2 hours.  The old lid was found and reused so he only needed cement and a new concrete ring for the top.  Pat did not try to sell me unneeded work although we discussed other items concerning sewers,drains and water backing up from the city sewers.
