"Jim was very helpful with what turned out to be a stress crack in my wall and wayer damage to my ceiling. He explained every step of what needed to be done and did a very good job. We will definitely be looking to hire him in the future for other work that we need to have done in the future."

"Bogdon installed a frameless glass shower enclosure for my new bathroom. Due to the shower curb being not level (this wasn't his work), he was able to make a custom, clear shim so it wouldn't be visible, and modify the metal sliding door guide. He is creative and skillful. The shower looks amazing."

"We hired them to fix a leak in the roof which required carpentry as well as foundation work. They where professional on time and the price was very reasonable. Most importantly no more leaking. We will definitely be hiring them for future projects."
Front view of the covered wrap around porch, with white porch railings and columns. The lattice work below the porch helps to give a backdrop for the shrubbery.
Exterior view of the in-progress attached garage addition build. As you can see, the necessary siding was removed from the existing home so we could attach the garage build.
Overall view of the newly constructed back deck, which leads to the now covered patio area, via the spiral staircase.
Front view of the log cabin entry room addition highlights the stunning front door with dual sidelights.
Back view shows how much the new build towers above the existing one-story homes in the neighborhood.

"When confronted with a crisis because of a copper plumbing burglary, Mr. Grady, of Grady's Painting, Plastering and Construction, willingly traveled many miles to come to my aid. Requesting only a $1.00 deposit against a $4,500.00 job, he masterfully reconstructed my nineteenth century lath and plaster hallway wall, also thoroughly compensating for a missing portion of a central stud unwittingly removed by a plumber! After his extensive search for appropriate composition and dimension of material, he replaced and replicated a section of my forty-year-old faux onyx tub surround with common white PVC sheet, tinted oil-based colors, glaze, paint brush, and a rag. His applied natural talents and superlative skills saved me thousands of dollars! On the basis of both professional conversation and knowledgeable observation, Mr. Grady possesses the intrinsic knowledge of old-world trades, the artistic capabilities, the problem=solving thought processes, and the personal work ethic to accomplish a broud scope of reconstruction and restoration."

FAQs for acoustic ceiling tiles install projects in Archbald, PA

Ask the following questions to make sure you know what’s involved and that you’ve hired a good team:

  • Is your company licensed, bonded, and insured?

  • What is the best tile size for my project?

  • What fire rating do my ceiling tiles need?

  • How long will it take to install the drop ceiling?

  • What is the height of the finished drop ceiling?

Most residential building codes require a minimum ceiling height of 7.5 feet from the floor to the finished drop ceiling, ensuring adequate headroom and safety compliance. Since requirements can vary by location, consult your local code enforcement office or a professional installer to confirm the specific clearance needed for your project.

Installing a drop ceiling results in a loss of ceiling height ranging from 3 inches to 8 inches. The exact amount depends on factors like the size of the fixtures above, such as ductwork or lighting, and the manufacturer's recommendations for installation. Local building codes also dictate minimum ceiling heights, so it's important to consult with a professional installer to determine the optimal drop distance for your specific space.

Installing drywall costs between $1.50 and $3 per square foot for materials, labor, and finishing—significantly less than the $9 to $13 per square foot average for a drop ceiling. While drop ceilings come with a higher initial cost, they offer greater design flexibility, easy access to utility lines, and are simpler and less expensive to repair. To minimize expenses, consider budget-friendly fiberboard panels, though their appearance may be less appealing to some homeowners.

Drop ceilings offer several advantages and disadvantages.

Pros:

  • Easy to install and repair

  • Conceal stains, ductwork, and other unsightly elements

  • Provide quick access to ducts and wiring for maintenance

  • Available in various styles to suit your design preferences

Cons:

  • Reduce ceiling height

  • Tiles may require replacement after a few years

  • Less sturdy than traditional ceilings

  • Installation can be more time-consuming than drywall

Removing a drop ceiling costs between $2 and $7 per square foot, which includes disassembling the rail system and removing tiles. Factors such as ceiling size, accessibility, and disposal fees affect the total cost. If you're removing a drywall ceiling, expect costs of $2 to $4 per square foot. Hiring a professional ensures safe removal and proper disposal, preventing damage to underlying structures.
