"I cannot recommend Curtis Shepherd highly enough. He was prompt in returning my initial call, came out to do an estimate within a few days, and was able to do my dining room ceiling the next weekend. He did an amazing job on my dining room ceiling and was prompt, friendly, and professional. There was old plaster from a textured ceiling (1970s/80s?) that was flaking off--look at it and another flake would fall--but fortunately no water damage. Apparently it had never been painted and it's time had come. He scraped all of it off, repaired some hairline cracks, primed, and plastered the ceiling. He lowered the ceiling fixture and fixed the ceiling under the lighting canopy and carefully plastered up to--and not over--the crown molding. We opted to go with the original smooth finish rather than the swirl texture--it looks gorgeous! It (probably) looks like it did when the house was built--1927. When painted it matches the ceilings in the other rooms beautifully. He sealed some old water damage in the hallway at the same time. I will definitely call him when I fix the damaged plaster in my dad's "younger" 1936 house."

"I had big, big plans for a small bathroom and Brian didn't disappoint; he was a joy to work with and a pleasure to be around. My bathroom had to be gutted from the ceiling to the floor, and I wanted to go from a shower/tub combo with a closet, to a walk-in shower with a half wall, pedestal bathtub and 5 foot vanity - all in a 8' x 6.5' space. Brian was amazingly innovative when faced with a challenge, and believe me, with such a tight fit, there were many, many challenges! I don't know if we share the same taste or if he's just that intuitive, but he created exactly what I envisioned. I now have a bathroom that would look at home in any Indian Hill mansion - my only regret is that I didn't take his advise to install a pocket door. That way you could see inside the entire bathroom as you walk by....it's that beautiful."

"The relationship with our previous contractor didn't work out and we hired Herman and his crew to complete the job.

They were able to start quickly and their work was impeccable. The bathrooms included complicated marble patterns along with granite work. When they came across errors from our previous contractor, they were able to fix them while keeping the project on time.

I especially like the work they did on our new hardwood floors. He had to refinish the mistakes from the first contractor and restained it beautifully. We get compliments on it all the time.

I've renovated multiple historic homes in the past and have had to deal with more than a dozen contractors. Herman was the best to work with by far. The price, timing, and quality could not be beat."

"Greg and his assistant arrived on schedule.  Their work was excellent.  They were very careful to cover up everything, carefully moved the furniture and cleaned up as they went.  The ceiling looks great!

"Absolutely amazing people to deal with. Hired them for cleaning my mom’s ceilings and walls and it turned out to be a deep cleaning, which was REALLY needed! No additional charges. The ladies were fast, thorough, professional and friendly and so was the owner. I can’t thank them enough for the wonderful experience!"

FAQs for acoustic ceiling tiles install projects in Cincinnati, OH

A drop ceiling is a type of secondary ceiling that is dropped down below the actual ceiling of a room, hence the name. It’s made up of ceiling tiles (made of fiberboard, foam, wood, metal, or plastic) supported by a metal grid. The space between the drop ceiling and the structural ceiling can be used to hide wiring, pipes, and HVAC ducts.

Most drop ceiling installations take about two to three days, including the time needed to build the grid frame, install it, and place each ceiling tile properly. Your installation might take more time if you need to modify plumbing, HVAC ducts, or electrical wiring to accommodate the new ceiling.

Most drop ceilings require a clearance of at least three inches from the structural ceiling, though you’ll likely need more than that to make space for pipes, ducts, lights, fans, sprinklers, or wiring. In many places, building codes require a minimum ceiling height of seven feet, which can limit the amount of clearance you’ll have between your drop ceiling and structural ceiling.

Yes, you can paint a drop ceiling, but it’s not always recommended. Painting a drop ceiling can sometimes void your warranty because using improper paint or technique can cause the tiles to sag. Paint can also negatively affect the fire resistance, soundproofing, and light reflection of the panels. Consider these downsides before taking on ceiling painting costs.
