"This past spring in the bad rainstorms, we had some water seepage damage our carpet and drywall. I got some estimates from a few companies and went with High Quality Painting. We wanted to renovate our family room that had a terrible drop ceiling with florescent lighting. They were able to add a full drywall ceiling with can lighting as well as replace the carpet with some vinyl flooring, fix the drywall and repaint the walls. The job they did was outstanding. Their workers were meticulous, careful and considerate of your home and made sure to clean up their mess everyday. We were so happy with the work, when we had to do some bathroom work this November, we called Salvador and his crew again to redo our main bathroom and the work done with the tiling was stunning! We had a different crew, but the results were the same with their attention to detail. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again for more work in the future."

"Since parts of the house are over 100 years old, I knew that I would need a lot of new decking under the roof. I also needed drip edge material installed to prevent ice dam problems that I had been experiencing. I also needed trim repair and gutters. Everything turned out great. The timing was great as well. that got it done in 3 days working dawn to dusk just before the cold weather set in. The acid test was the one stretch in January where we got at least 18 inches of snow without a thaw. I had the ice dams as usual but no leaks this time. This outfit is very professional and is a real bargain if your looking for top quality workmanship. I would not hesitate to use them again for any type of general contracting work that you might need. I found out about Above and Beyond with my own 2 eyes. I was really impressed with some projects he was doing for my neighbor. I found out that my neighbor had been using them for years on a variety of projects. The outcome for my project was equally good. This outfit is very professional and is a real bargain if your looking for top quality workmanship. I would not hesitate to recommend using them for any type of general contracting work that you might need. You won't be disappointed."

"I hired them to install three exterior lights, by my front and back doors & garage. I had the fixtures, just needed someone to install. Good work at a reasonable price. I subsequently hired them to fix some wood rot by my garage door. Ivan cams in, cut out and replaced the bad pieces, caulked and repainted. Excellent job!"

"The women who performed their work did a fine job - but we asked specifically for a DEEP clean, which I thought meant floors scrubbed, bookselves dusted, soffits dusted, wood work washed, etc. That did not happen, in fact the ceiling fans were not cleaned because the folks who were sent could not reach them. We received a good overall cleaning, but not what I would call a "deep clean."

"This was my second large project with Jack and his team. They do amazing work. See photo of the ceiling and built-ins they installed as part of a renovation of this 1927 home."

"Rey and his team were outstanding! They were able to schedule the work quickly. They painted multiple rooms and ceilings for us. Because he had a crew, Rey was completed the entire job in one day. The attention to detail and his quality of his work was unsurpassed. Additionally has price points where at or below all of the other quotes we requested. As long as I live in the Chicago area I will never look for painting anyone to complete painting for me other than Rey! 👍🏼👌🏼"

"Wonderful experience with the brothers. I had my dining room, family room, main hallway upstairs and first floor, plus bathroom. They were both quick and efficient. They were strong communicators and provided a quick response for every question. I would definitely hire again for my next painting job and would recommend to those up in lake county."

"YB drywalled our ceiling after we took out a drop ceiling, revealing damaged plaster. They did a fabulous job. They took good care of the old original crown moulding as they removed it temporarily. 100 year old wood and nothing was damaged! Would highly recommend them!"

A drop ceiling is a type of secondary ceiling that is dropped down below the actual ceiling of a room, hence the name. It’s made up of ceiling tiles (made of fiberboard, foam, wood, metal, or plastic) supported by a metal grid. The space between the drop ceiling and the structural ceiling can be used to hide wiring, pipes, and HVAC ducts.
Most drop ceiling installations take about two to three days, including the time needed to build the grid frame, install it, and place each ceiling tile properly. Your installation might take more time if you need to modify plumbing, HVAC ducts, or electrical wiring to accommodate the new ceiling.
Most drop ceilings require a clearance of at least three inches from the structural ceiling, though you’ll likely need more than that to make space for pipes, ducts, lights, fans, sprinklers, or wiring. In many places, building codes require a minimum ceiling height of seven feet, which can limit the amount of clearance you’ll have between your drop ceiling and structural ceiling.
Yes, you can paint a drop ceiling, but it’s not always recommended. Painting a drop ceiling can sometimes void your warranty because using improper paint or technique can cause the tiles to sag. Paint can also negatively affect the fire resistance, soundproofing, and light reflection of the panels. Consider these downsides before taking on ceiling painting costs.
