"Joe Soucek installed our basement drop ceiling and LED lighting. We had good communication leading up to the installation start date via phone, email, and text message. Joe had ceiling tile samples sent to our home for selection and his estimate was competitive and fair. Joe arrived for installation as scheduled and immediately got to work. He helped to identify a lighting wiring issue we had and helped to remedy it. Joe worked quickly and quietly and left the area clean. In addition to being great at his craft, Joe is also very friendly. I felt comfortable having him in my home. The finished ceiling looks terrific, I would hire Joe again!"

"Mike did an amazing job with my basement remodel. From drawing up the plans, being very knowledgeable in all areas, clean up and professionalism, I knew I went with the right company. From studs, to drywall, to ceiling to finishing touches, I am amazed how awesome my basement looks. I would recommend Mike for all projects and already have him scheduled for 1 of my bathrooms."

"In two separate jobs I had my entryway remodeled and my kitchen and living room repaired after a pipe leak. The latter involved working with my insurance company and John guided me through the process and provided required documentation. When the sink I chose wouldn't work with the existing piping and my ceiling fan didn't work because I needed additional wiring John found solutions and communicated my options. John and his team are knowledgeable, helpful, and accommodating."

"Kris did an excellent job from the initial quote, setting up a time that convenient for me, to showing up on time when he said he would be here. Kris repaired my leaky roof, replaced rotted wood, and painted my ceiling. It looked wonderful and matched the rest of the house’s ceiling. Kris was very careful to cover my belongings and he did a great job cleaning up. The best part, all this was done at a VERY fair price."

"Adam is great. This was the second time we used Neatnics. I had purchased a ceiling fan that was the wrong style. Adam did the leg work and found one that with all the features we wanted and installed it. All work was completely quickly with no mess. Neatnics is definitely our go to company for home repair."

"BEST CONTRACTOR EVER! The project included an exterior ramp, 1st fl laundry & 1/2 bath near the kitchen. I needed the ramp done 1st for an elderly person being released from physical rehab in under a wk. He worked very hard through the worst days of the smoke from the Canada forest fires. He understood ADA requirements and built accordingly. Plus, he suggested things I hadn't thought of like widening the mudroom doorway for a wheel chair if needed in the future & raising the mudroom floor just a little to keep it level with the kitchen floor. The ramp is very sturdy. The senior is using it with great confidence. The interior revamp went very well & was just what our senior needed. Not only did he have the project done in a timely manner, but while walking through Lowes he noticed a stackable washer & dryer 20% off, unopened box. He texted me & we grabbed it! Dave not only knows the construction business but goes above & beyond what's needed and he has a good heart."
A drop ceiling is a type of secondary ceiling that is dropped down below the actual ceiling of a room, hence the name. It’s made up of ceiling tiles (made of fiberboard, foam, wood, metal, or plastic) supported by a metal grid. The space between the drop ceiling and the structural ceiling can be used to hide wiring, pipes, and HVAC ducts.
Most drop ceiling installations take about two to three days, including the time needed to build the grid frame, install it, and place each ceiling tile properly. Your installation might take more time if you need to modify plumbing, HVAC ducts, or electrical wiring to accommodate the new ceiling.
Most drop ceilings require a clearance of at least three inches from the structural ceiling, though you’ll likely need more than that to make space for pipes, ducts, lights, fans, sprinklers, or wiring. In many places, building codes require a minimum ceiling height of seven feet, which can limit the amount of clearance you’ll have between your drop ceiling and structural ceiling.
Yes, you can paint a drop ceiling, but it’s not always recommended. Painting a drop ceiling can sometimes void your warranty because using improper paint or technique can cause the tiles to sag. Paint can also negatively affect the fire resistance, soundproofing, and light reflection of the panels. Consider these downsides before taking on ceiling painting costs.
