"We'd hung the drywall and we were looking for someone to do the tape/mud. We did two small rooms, but one with 12 foot ceilings. About 1,100 sq ft of wall surface. They are extremely responsive and engage their customers. They came out to the house the same day we called them to come give an estimate. My wife wanted it done quickly so we paid a bit of a premium, but still reasonable. They managed to get us scheduled in and complete in under 2 weeks (actual work was about 4-5 days). Their quote included them providing the mud, tape, and corner beads. They also fixed a couple old cracks and trouble spots in other rooms. The owner showed up to bid and review the job. He stopped in a couple days while his team was there, usually in the morning to give guidance. They were quiet and professional. This was a remodel in the home we are living in and they did a pretty good job of keeping the dust and mess to a minimum. If you've ever done drywall before, it can be DUSTY. They did so well with the mud, there was minimal sanding and they had a dust collection system that helped. Glad we called them! We are almost done painting and in another week or so you'll never know those rooms didn't exist previously."

"It went well. They were just a little late getting to us, but they had a good reason and called beforehand to let us know. They worked quickly but were still careful not to damage anything. The owner is a young man but very responsible and hard working. Would def hire again."

"It was fine. The original design didn’t meet my needs based on the information I provided them. However, they revised the plans which worked out better for me. They were able to get the first draft to me pretty quickly."

"It was a very pleasant experience! I called one day and the owner Nick Jackson called me back that day. He came the next day ! Our roof had a small leak so he accessed my roof and noticed a lot of hail damage. At that Point he talked me through how to file a claim with my insurance company . Once the adjuster scheduled an appt to come out , Nick met with him and they both figured out what needed to be replaced. We received an insurance check shortly after that and Nick scheduled his crew. They were fast , professional and installed an excellent roof. It was a very easy painless operation. I would highly recommend them !"
Ask the following questions to make sure you know what’s involved and that you’ve hired a good team:
Is your company licensed, bonded, and insured?
What is the best tile size for my project?
What fire rating do my ceiling tiles need?
How long will it take to install the drop ceiling?
What is the height of the finished drop ceiling?
Most residential building codes require a minimum ceiling height of 7.5 feet from the floor to the finished drop ceiling, ensuring adequate headroom and safety compliance. Since requirements can vary by location, consult your local code enforcement office or a professional installer to confirm the specific clearance needed for your project.
Installing a drop ceiling results in a loss of ceiling height ranging from 3 inches to 8 inches. The exact amount depends on factors like the size of the fixtures above, such as ductwork or lighting, and the manufacturer's recommendations for installation. Local building codes also dictate minimum ceiling heights, so it's important to consult with a professional installer to determine the optimal drop distance for your specific space.
Installing drywall costs between $1.50 and $3 per square foot for materials, labor, and finishing—significantly less than the $9 to $13 per square foot average for a drop ceiling. While drop ceilings come with a higher initial cost, they offer greater design flexibility, easy access to utility lines, and are simpler and less expensive to repair. To minimize expenses, consider budget-friendly fiberboard panels, though their appearance may be less appealing to some homeowners.
Drop ceilings offer several advantages and disadvantages.
Pros:
Easy to install and repair
Conceal stains, ductwork, and other unsightly elements
Provide quick access to ducts and wiring for maintenance
Available in various styles to suit your design preferences
Cons:
Reduce ceiling height
Tiles may require replacement after a few years
Less sturdy than traditional ceilings
Installation can be more time-consuming than drywall
Removing a drop ceiling costs between $2 and $7 per square foot, which includes disassembling the rail system and removing tiles. Factors such as ceiling size, accessibility, and disposal fees affect the total cost. If you're removing a drywall ceiling, expect costs of $2 to $4 per square foot. Hiring a professional ensures safe removal and proper disposal, preventing damage to underlying structures.
