However we felt this wait was well worth it as the complete dining room remodeling job he did for us turned out beautifully.  Antonio communicated with us nearly every day about the project, and his crew left the house in spotless condition at the end of each day. We picked out the insulation, lighting, paint colors and woodwork types and Antonio did everything else with little direction. "I recently purchased an old house, built in 1940. My intention is to remodel the basement as a home theater space. I write about consumer electronics professionally, so this is not just a hobby room, but is needed for my career. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean that I have a huge budget. I have to pay for all expenses out of pocket, right after having just bought the house.
The house had a finished room in the basement, but it was completed in the '40s or '50s and was unsuitable for my needs. I was able to strip the old walls and ceiling myself, but need a real contractor with crew to build them back up again, complete with heavy insulation and soundproofing materials. It is essential that I isolate the room from all sounds coming from upstairs, and that I don't disturb my wife or neighbors when watching loud movies.
Scott Curtice came out to the house twice for consultation, once on his own and once with his carpenter. Scott was extremely helpful, knowledgable, friendly and professional. Although he is not a specialist in soundproofing, he was able to do some research for me and provided three estimates for different ways he could complete the project considering my restricted budget. He also advised on other problems I've discovered with the house during this process.
While planning this project, I have also met with or spoken to several other firms. The Curtice Group quickly stood out as a front-runner for the job. Ultimately, I decided to move forward with another firm. However, that was due almost entirely to my very specific, specialized needs, and is not a reflection on the Curtice Group.
