"Not only did Rhino give a great/competitive quote, they were great at communicating and polite and respectful in my space. I am working on an industrial renovation and they were the ONLY easy, efficient, enjoyable contractor experience. If only I needed another drop ceiling! If you need a drop ceiling - use these guys for sure!"

"I was very impressed by the estimator (and maybe owner, Larry).  He was definitely the pick of more than 5 contractors that  had out to give estimates.   Most professionals were actually not knowledgeable about mold at all.   He was very knowledgeable when coming out to look at the job and estimate.  He suited up in a full suit before going into the contaminated space.   After contracting things weren't quite as smooth.  I needed to have the remediation done in two parts to also replace a furnace after the remediation, but before the vapor barrier was installed so the vapor barrier would not be ripped.   They wouldn't allow me to schedule the second portion of the clean up in advance and thus I was left waiting for more than a week with access to the house blocked off because of the contamination containment barrier.  We ended up removing the barrier so we could use the house and called to make sure that the team would bring supplies to set up a new barrier when they returned to finish the job.   Removing the tape from the ceiling ripped off all the finish from the stained wooden ceiling and the response was basically that's your problem.  They did NOT bring the equipment and were irritated that I'd removed the barrier, despite notifying them.   The people carrying out the work did not wear suits or even respirators.  It concerns me that such a company would send in their men to contaminated areas without proper protection.   It is also concerning that there seemed to be little concern for maintaining the containment during the remediation process.  Also, the sand under the vapor barrier was not cleared of debris, and there are sharp rocks just below the surface that have, in some cases, poked through the barrier even just weeks after install.   In short, I felt like too many shortcuts were taken and the contamination threat was not taken seriously by the company that should understand the dangers of mold and the repercussions of contaminating more spaces with mold spores and mycotoxins."

"This couldn't have gone better. Chuck and Mike were pros and they did a beautiful job. They handled everything so well and even got it done ahead of schedule since our Airbnb we were staying at wasn't going to let us stay any longer. I had trouble installing some of the ceiling fans after they left so they even came back and installed those back on the ceiling at no charge. These are very trustable folks and I will hire them for any job down the road involving painting, popcorn ceilings, drywall, or related services."

"I have used Stone Mountain Design several times over the past few years and we keep coming back to them, because of the honest and complete trustworthy way they conduct business and complete projects. All of our projects have always been done in the time promised and within budget. Any adds were discussed prior and mutually agreed-upon before we were billed. Their bids are detailed and their price quotes are more than competitive with other quotes we’ve received. Tom is a craftsman with an eye for detail and operates with the upmost integrity. He was more than willing to walk us through each aspect of our project, and always made time for questions and clarifications. I would wholeheartedly recommend Stone Mountain Design for any granite, deck, or construction job you might need. Two thumbs way up!"

FAQs for acoustic ceiling tiles install projects in Nunn, CO

Ask the following questions to make sure you know what’s involved and that you’ve hired a good team:

  • Is your company licensed, bonded, and insured?

  • What is the best tile size for my project?

  • What fire rating do my ceiling tiles need?

  • How long will it take to install the drop ceiling?

  • What is the height of the finished drop ceiling?

Most residential building codes require a minimum ceiling height of 7.5 feet from the floor to the finished drop ceiling, ensuring adequate headroom and safety compliance. Since requirements can vary by location, consult your local code enforcement office or a professional installer to confirm the specific clearance needed for your project.

Installing a drop ceiling results in a loss of ceiling height ranging from 3 inches to 8 inches. The exact amount depends on factors like the size of the fixtures above, such as ductwork or lighting, and the manufacturer's recommendations for installation. Local building codes also dictate minimum ceiling heights, so it's important to consult with a professional installer to determine the optimal drop distance for your specific space.

Installing drywall costs between $1.50 and $3 per square foot for materials, labor, and finishing—significantly less than the $9 to $13 per square foot average for a drop ceiling. While drop ceilings come with a higher initial cost, they offer greater design flexibility, easy access to utility lines, and are simpler and less expensive to repair. To minimize expenses, consider budget-friendly fiberboard panels, though their appearance may be less appealing to some homeowners.

Drop ceilings offer several advantages and disadvantages.

Pros:

  • Easy to install and repair

  • Conceal stains, ductwork, and other unsightly elements

  • Provide quick access to ducts and wiring for maintenance

  • Available in various styles to suit your design preferences

Cons:

  • Reduce ceiling height

  • Tiles may require replacement after a few years

  • Less sturdy than traditional ceilings

  • Installation can be more time-consuming than drywall

Removing a drop ceiling costs between $2 and $7 per square foot, which includes disassembling the rail system and removing tiles. Factors such as ceiling size, accessibility, and disposal fees affect the total cost. If you're removing a drywall ceiling, expect costs of $2 to $4 per square foot. Hiring a professional ensures safe removal and proper disposal, preventing damage to underlying structures.
