"I definitely would recommend Joe Soucek for an acoustic tile ceiling installation. Our basement ceiling came out beautiful. Joe even removed old shop-type fluorescent lights and installed recessed lights and a dimmer switch. If you are wavering between acoustic tiles or drywall you really might want to go the tile path, it looks great and now we have access to pipes and duct work. Plus my husband may be running stereo wires above the tiles. After being stood up by another contractor, we contacted Joe. He made the whole process easy: he quoted us via measurements and pictures I had emailed him, he had the tile supplier drop ship us samples of ceiling tiles to choose from, and he stayed in communication with us about the time-line, which was dependent on the lights coming in. All very professional. Plus he is an all-around nice guy."

"Ryan and his whole crew were great to work with. We had a door and window removed from our home and a 8ft x 8ft slider installed. The attention to detail was just amazing. The new door looks beautiful."

"I contacted Em painting and remodeling the owners Elis and carmella showed and were very knowledgeable of what I was looking for. I knew I wanted a whole new bathroom but was not sure on where to start. Carmella showed me pictures of jobs they have done before and I got some great ideas from the work they did. The price was great and the finished product was amazing. The best part of my house is my bathroom. I want my kitchen done next and I definitely know I will be using them again. Great job guys."

"Chris was excellent! I highly recommend. We had a problem with our front door, literally for years. It continued to get worse and worse until it became a real problem. Chris and I diagnosed the problem, and Chris fixed it beautifully. It is such a pleasure to have our door work as it did when it was installed. He was prompt and went above and beyond. I will definbitely utilize Chris in the future"

"We worked with John Desborough (Desborough Construction) to finish our basement, including building a custom wood bar with plumbing and cabinetry, a matching wooded booth, and a half bathroom. This was a big project and it was important to us that the work was done right, so we interviewed three contractors. John stood apart from the competition. He spent a significant amount of time speaking with us to understand our goals, and offered suggestions and advice on how to accomplish our vision and improve our design. John’s proposal contained significant detail compared to others. We selected him because it was clear that John understood our goals and was capable of getting the work done right and within budget. We understood exactly what was included in the scope of work and knew there would be no surprises. John did a great job of communicating throughout the project and there were no unanticipated delays. He and the Desborough Construction team worked quickly and kept the project on track. John clearly takes a great deal of pride in his work. For example, although we didn’t specify that the bar top had to be one solid piece of wood, John knew that the bar was important to us and that a solid top would look best. To accommodate the lengthy bar top (which was constructed off-site), John cut a hole in the drywall of the basement stairway in order to get it safely down the stairs, installed the bar, and repaired the drywall during the same day. We couldn’t tell it had ever happened! Throughout the project, John went the extra mile to ensure that our expectations were exceeded and that we were extremely happy with the finished product. We feel lucky to have found Desborough Construction and John will be our first call for any future home improvement projects."

"Kris did an excellent job from the initial quote, setting up a time that convenient for me, to showing up on time when he said he would be here. Kris repaired my leaky roof, replaced rotted wood, and painted my ceiling. It looked wonderful and matched the rest of the house’s ceiling. Kris was very careful to cover my belongings and he did a great job cleaning up. The best part, all this was done at a VERY fair price."

"Adam is great. This was the second time we used Neatnics. I had purchased a ceiling fan that was the wrong style. Adam did the leg work and found one that with all the features we wanted and installed it. All work was completely quickly with no mess. "Work was started promptly in early July and accomplished efficiently, until it slowed down and dragged on. Crew was pleasant and capable. Work was finally completed in mid-November, after dispute over final payment. Major work was well done overall but the finishing up was not as well done. To successfully work with Buccilli Contractor it is essential that the contractor's proposal specify all work to be performed. I accepted a general kitchen remodel proposal and then had a dispute over $2,000 for installation of backsplash, which I believed to be part of proposal. Dominic Buccilli is a decent man and we resolved the issue.

Ask the following questions to make sure you know what’s involved and that you’ve hired a good team:
Is your company licensed, bonded, and insured?
What is the best tile size for my project?
What fire rating do my ceiling tiles need?
How long will it take to install the drop ceiling?
What is the height of the finished drop ceiling?
Most residential building codes require a minimum ceiling height of 7.5 feet from the floor to the finished drop ceiling, ensuring adequate headroom and safety compliance. Since requirements can vary by location, consult your local code enforcement office or a professional installer to confirm the specific clearance needed for your project.
Installing a drop ceiling results in a loss of ceiling height ranging from 3 inches to 8 inches. The exact amount depends on factors like the size of the fixtures above, such as ductwork or lighting, and the manufacturer's recommendations for installation. Local building codes also dictate minimum ceiling heights, so it's important to consult with a professional installer to determine the optimal drop distance for your specific space.
Installing drywall costs between $1.50 and $3 per square foot for materials, labor, and finishing—significantly less than the $9 to $13 per square foot average for a drop ceiling. While drop ceilings come with a higher initial cost, they offer greater design flexibility, easy access to utility lines, and are simpler and less expensive to repair. To minimize expenses, consider budget-friendly fiberboard panels, though their appearance may be less appealing to some homeowners.
Drop ceilings offer several advantages and disadvantages.
Pros:
Easy to install and repair
Conceal stains, ductwork, and other unsightly elements
Provide quick access to ducts and wiring for maintenance
Available in various styles to suit your design preferences
Cons:
Reduce ceiling height
Tiles may require replacement after a few years
Less sturdy than traditional ceilings
Installation can be more time-consuming than drywall
Removing a drop ceiling costs between $2 and $7 per square foot, which includes disassembling the rail system and removing tiles. Factors such as ceiling size, accessibility, and disposal fees affect the total cost. If you're removing a drywall ceiling, expect costs of $2 to $4 per square foot. Hiring a professional ensures safe removal and proper disposal, preventing damage to underlying structures.
