"What started as a deck rebuild turned into a three season room addition. Matt and his crew were easy to work with, offered some great suggestions to us, and the finished room is more than we hoped for! We loved his suggestion of putting pine on the vaulted ceiling, and the finish work at the bottom on the outside looks great. Matt took care to match our 20 year old siding, and finish the windows and doors to exactly match the others on the house."

Customers say: True professional

"Simply Stated, Andrew Masten is a dyeing breed. If you also read his other Reviews, you will find that he is Honest , Trustworthy, On Time, Extremely Hard Working and a Perfectionist in the work that he does. All of what is stated here is also stated with the Better Business Bureau. Andrew fairly quoted repair of water / hole damage in Master Bedroom ceiling. He set a perfect time line for repair completion. Advised us of every step taken in repair. Even to the point to notify us as to when he was enroute to be on time for the repair. Personally, we have lived in our home in Queensbury for 21 years and have never found a contractor that I would describe as â Outstanding â . Andrew Masten is an Outstanding person and Contractor. There is no hesitation in recommending him for any project that requires his expertise. Also adding that if additional work is needed, he knows and can call on other Sub Contractors with the same work ethics as his. We know for a fact that if we ever need a contractor , there would be no hesitation in calling Masten & Commander."

"I hired Precision to completely renovate an old warehouse that was neglected for a long time. The space is now beautiful and looks nothing like it did when I purchased it."

"Tony is great to deal with, and has a great crew of workers. They did a complete remodel of our very outdated bathroom. From demolition and removal of old tub and sink, medicine cabinet and walls, to the finished product of a beautiful new room, from ceiling to floor, wall to wall. I would recommend Tony highly. You will not be disappointed."

"Aaron looked at the rooms to be painted: living room, dining room and bedroom walls, trim and ceilings. He explained that because some paint came off the walls when I removed two old decals, those areas would need to be skim coated. The estimate seemed reasonable. Aaron and his crew arrived as scheduled and worked very hard for two and a half days. They paid close attention to detail, and the results are absolutely beautiful. The rooms look like new! I will definitely call Precision Coatings for my future painting needs."

FAQs for acoustic ceiling tiles install projects in South Glens Falls, NY

Ask the following questions to make sure you know what’s involved and that you’ve hired a good team:

  • Is your company licensed, bonded, and insured?

  • What is the best tile size for my project?

  • What fire rating do my ceiling tiles need?

  • How long will it take to install the drop ceiling?

  • What is the height of the finished drop ceiling?

Most residential building codes require a minimum ceiling height of 7.5 feet from the floor to the finished drop ceiling, ensuring adequate headroom and safety compliance. Since requirements can vary by location, consult your local code enforcement office or a professional installer to confirm the specific clearance needed for your project.

Installing a drop ceiling results in a loss of ceiling height ranging from 3 inches to 8 inches. The exact amount depends on factors like the size of the fixtures above, such as ductwork or lighting, and the manufacturer's recommendations for installation. Local building codes also dictate minimum ceiling heights, so it's important to consult with a professional installer to determine the optimal drop distance for your specific space.

Installing drywall costs between $1.50 and $3 per square foot for materials, labor, and finishing—significantly less than the $9 to $13 per square foot average for a drop ceiling. While drop ceilings come with a higher initial cost, they offer greater design flexibility, easy access to utility lines, and are simpler and less expensive to repair. To minimize expenses, consider budget-friendly fiberboard panels, though their appearance may be less appealing to some homeowners.

Drop ceilings offer several advantages and disadvantages.

Pros:

  • Easy to install and repair

  • Conceal stains, ductwork, and other unsightly elements

  • Provide quick access to ducts and wiring for maintenance

  • Available in various styles to suit your design preferences

Cons:

  • Reduce ceiling height

  • Tiles may require replacement after a few years

  • Less sturdy than traditional ceilings

  • Installation can be more time-consuming than drywall

Removing a drop ceiling costs between $2 and $7 per square foot, which includes disassembling the rail system and removing tiles. Factors such as ceiling size, accessibility, and disposal fees affect the total cost. If you're removing a drywall ceiling, expect costs of $2 to $4 per square foot. Hiring a professional ensures safe removal and proper disposal, preventing damage to underlying structures.
