However we felt this wait was well worth it as the complete dining room remodeling job he did for us turned out beautifully.  Antonio communicated with us nearly every day about the project, and his crew left the house in spotless condition at the end of each day. We picked out the insulation, lighting, paint colors and woodwork types and Antonio did everything else with little direction. "I hired Master Plastering to replace and paint a water damaged entryway ceiling. A representative came to my home, took pictures of the ceiling, made measurements, and emailed an estimated within an hour. The price quote was detailed and quite reasonable. A week later, a plastering crew arrived and pulled down the damaged ceiling, put up blue board, and skim coated the entire ceiling in a half day. Three days later, a paint crew arrived to prime and paint the new ceiling, again in about a half day. My wife and I very pleased with the work done. "I needed my entryway stairs and porches replaced due to age. I found MMP Construction here on Angie’s list, and contacted them through the website. Matt, the owner, called me back the next day and we arranged a time for him to come and give me an estimate. He showed up exactly when he said he would, and emailed me the estimate the next day. When I hired him, he told me upfront that it would be a while before he could start due to an ongoing project he was working on. I appreciated that. When the time came for him to start, there were some delays, mainly weather related, and he was very conscientious about calling me and letting me know what was going on and when to expect them. Although the project took longer than I expected to be finished, I am very happy with the finished product. Matt is excellent at communication. "I recently purchased an old house, built in 1940. My intention is to remodel the basement as a home theater space. I write about consumer electronics professionally, so this is not just a hobby room, but is needed for my career. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean that I have a huge budget. I have to pay for all expenses out of pocket, right after having just bought the house.
The house had a finished room in the basement, but it was completed in the '40s or '50s and was unsuitable for my needs. I was able to strip the old walls and ceiling myself, but need a real contractor with crew to build them back up again, complete with heavy insulation and soundproofing materials. It is essential that I isolate the room from all sounds coming from upstairs, and that I don't disturb my wife or neighbors when watching loud movies.
Scott Curtice came out to the house twice for consultation, once on his own and once with his carpenter. Scott was extremely helpful, knowledgable, friendly and professional. Although he is not a specialist in soundproofing, he was able to do some research for me and provided three estimates for different ways he could complete the project considering my restricted budget. He also advised on other problems I've discovered with the house during this process.
While planning this project, I have also met with or spoken to several other firms. The Curtice Group quickly stood out as a front-runner for the job. Ultimately, I decided to move forward with another firm. However, that was due almost entirely to my very specific, specialized needs, and is not a reflection on the Curtice Group.
