"Herbert is PHENOMENAL, third generation concrete man. He came out to take measurements and came back out to discuss color and patterns with me. Never made me feel pressured to choose him after the quote. He answered the hundred questions I had texted him after the consult. Didn’t try to nickel and dime me, but went out of his way to make the project as cost effective as possible. His team was extremely friendly and professional. Herbert is honest and humble and I wish I had more concrete jobs to do because he was so great to work with."

"Antonio is friendly and knowledgeable with block and concrete. He is a great communicator and showed upon time when he said he would. He and his crew did an excellent job removing an old timber retaining wall and replacing it with block. He listened to what I wanted and provided a quote to match. We even added some work and he was able to easily add what we wanted to make the wall continuous and look professionally installed. He also poured a concrete step on our back patio. We highly recommend him for retaining walls and concrete work big and small."

"Joe Wilson at Brentwood Concrete did a fantastic job on our driveway. He reviewed our needs for proper drainage, provided a detailed and reasonable quote, and he and his crew built a handsome driveway that exceeded expectations. He communicated needed adjustments including the cost impact so there were no surprises. An added benefit was Joe’s delightful wife Alexandra who is an integral part of the team. "I had 2500 sq feet of concrete driveway and pad that was solid but with large cracks. Every business that gave us an estimate quoted 20, 40, 40,000 dollars! I knew there had to be a better plan and ran the ad on Angi saying, “I’m looking for a concrete expert who’s not afraid to DREAM with me”! Theo called and set up an appointment to look and to dream! He carefully and thoroughly routed and ground out all crack and took his time properly rehabilitating cracks. Then, all the surface of the entire area was ground with a large commercial unit for adhesion. Then, the was “broomed” for surface traction. I don’t generally write glowing recommendations but I can wholeheartedly endorse Concrete Repair Experts! Theo will be back in the Spring to re-surface the sidewalk in front. I’ve told CRE to use this job near Nashville for others to see if they need this kind of work. Theo has saved us tens of thousands and does much of the work himself."

FAQs for concrete work projects in Brentwood, TN

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.

Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.

Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.

An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
