"Shawn and his crew at McCune Company were did a fantastic job on my patio and sidewalk repair project. He was fast with his quote and easy to work with between the rainy spring and my schedule. I now have a nice usable patio space. Time to start using my patio!"

"We were concerned about protecting the landscaping along the driveway and chose this company because the owner Dan seemed to relate to our issues. We used Angie's List and two personal references to confirm our choice and got three separate quotes. The results were excellent. Dan knows his stuff. His crew was friendly and cooperative. They cleaned up every day they were on the job and did not disturb our landscaping more than a foot on either side. Taking up the old floor in our two car garage was done in tight quarters without any peripheral damage. I have waited more than a year to write this description because you can't judge the quality until you have some weather and traffic to test the quality. This is the second winter and there are no chips or cracks. the rain runs off away from the house and into the drain they installed. The drive starts as a single lane and then curves into a second lane in front of the two car garage. Overall the concrete work and leveling are excellent. We had slightly lower quotes for this work but we are very happy that we chose Specialized Concrete."

"Contacted John and received a prompt response.  Many other concrete companies had turned down the work because it was a small project.  John was up front and said he might have done the same but we were lucky and very nearby to him so he took the work as a filler project.
Work was done on the day scheduled and the workers showed up bright and early.  John had suggested adding a small section of an angled turnoff to make it easier to get onto the pad, as the cars would be 90 degree to the drive on it.  This was a feature I had not thought of but has proven to be of great help as he indicated.  We have a new 16 year old driver in the house and she's been able to navigate the pad much easier with this addition versus a square install.  My only concern is that I was worried it was a little late in the season and was asking for some sort of warranty that the concrete would set and cure properly and avoid damage.  Now that we are in spring, I do have a rather large crack running through a section of the installation.  John indicated he could not provide a warranty because he could not control what we placed on the pad and if a heavy truck backed onto it, etc. it would certainly crack.  All we have had on it is a minivan, which should certainly not cause problems, however this is why I give the quality only a B as I would have expected nothing to occur in about 6 months after concrete work.

Customers say: Quick response

"I would HIGHLY recommend Hegedus Hardscape for ANY paver project you have. We had a 15+ year old paver walkway and and patio that had gradually sunk, creating 2-3 inches of water in several areas when it rained due to poor original installation. Sandor Hegedus came and explained the problem thoroughly and recommended the appropriate way to correct our situation. We watched every step of their process and are EXTREMELY impressed with their professionalism and quality of work. They are a family owned and run company that truly cares about their work. Their cleanup was amazing. We undoubtedly will never have to worry about our pavers again! Thank you Sandor, Viola and family... you all should be PROUD!"

"We have used Eli for a variety of projects and couldn't be happier with his work. Our projects have included weekly lawn service, tree installation, sprinkler winterization, landscape lighting and drainage repair. In all scenarios, Eli took the time to walk me through the scope of work and understand exactly what we were hoping to achieve. We feel lucky to have found a company that can do it all!"

"Review: Nick and his crew were totally professional. Nick always kept in touch so we knew when he was going to be able to prepare our patio and when they would be able to pour the concrete. We were so pleased that he could fit us in on our tight schedule. We actually had another quote that would have been lower priced but decided to go with Marrco Concrete for both their quality work and on-time performance. We are so glad we did! Our new patio and the sidewalk that wraps around the garage are the perfect addition to our new home. It was well worth the money and we can't wait to have outdoor picnics on it."

FAQs for concrete work projects in Cleveland Heights, OH

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.

Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.

Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.

An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
