"Big shout out to Dil and Cruise for doing a splendid job . They were very courteous, patient enough to listen to my concerns and very friendly. The Job was to lift the concrete and seal the joint and cracks . Time will tell how well the seal will hold especially with colorodo weather but so far happy the result. Thank you Trasher."

"It was an interesting experience.  First of all, everyone was really friendly and easy to work with.  Ben originally came out and walk through our stucco repairs.  We wanted the top of a stucco wall repaired along with various other stucco repairs.  Additionally, we had some questions about roofing issues and possible painting the house.  We also wanted to have some lose soffits re-attached while they were doing other work in the area.  Ben did a great job of showing me warning signs of things to look for so I know what to keep an eye on in the future.
Our house has a concrete tile roof that is dangerous to walk on in terms of safety and potential damage to the tiles.  Our home is also very tall - 3.5 stories off the ground Ben did a great job of assuring us that the workers could access the areas around the house without stepping on the tiles by using scaffolding.  Since the estimates were for a substantial amount of money, over $10,000 to do the work, we assumed the cost was due to setting up scaffolding as Ben said he spoke several times with the owner, Scott, to make sure they could get to the work areas, especially, the top of the structure.  There is an additional charge of moving tiles which I was okay with as they are really dangerous to walk on and wanted them to have a safe area to work so they could focus on doing a good job and not falling off the roof.
it started great.  Hector came out on a Saturday morning and started prepping the areas for repair.  He did a great job matching the stucco and texture.  However, Ben said they would build up the top of the wall so that water would flow off of it better, but Hector only scrapped the top and applied the new topping - which looks good, but did not contain a more noticeable slope.  Hector had missed a couple of spots to touch up, but quickly fixed them when I pointed them out to him.
Then Hector proceeded to start caulking the windows.  However, many areas were difficult to get to and he indicated that he would have to walk on the tiles, which we wanted to avoid because Metro states in their contract that they are not responsible for any broken roof tiles and are tiles are no longer being made.  Additionally, he was really nervous about him trying to get on the roof and told us several times he was just a 'stucco' person.  Hector decided it wasn't worth the risk without the proper ladder and left for the day.  I was relieved that he decided not to get on the roof and it gave us time to talk to Ben and Brady.
Hector did caulk a couple of the windows that he could safely reach using a Dow Corning silicone caulk.  The contract specifically called for using Lexel caulk because it was superior to silicone.  When I mentioned the issue with the roof and caulk, Brady came out the next morning and we worked through the issues.  Brady assured my that the silicone was rated higher than the Lexel; however, the do have different qualitys.
We spoke with Brady about building scaffolding and he assured us that we didn't need it and they could walk on the tile in a special way as to not break it.  Brady ended up coming out to speak with us directly.  We ended up removing some of the work like the painting and some roof work because we were uncomfortable that they were not going to use scaffolding.  Brady was great about modifying the contract.  Brady also said Ben was new and was learning about some of the building issues we had questions about so some of the work probably wasn't needed anyway.
Hector came out again with a ladder that could reach the higher levels and finished caulking with Lexel.  Additionally, he was able to re-attach some of the problem soffits.  He didn't finish everything and would need to return the next day.
Hector arrived to install the remaining kick outs late in the afternoon.  We ended up helping him by holding the ladder, hauling supplies to top levels of the house and holding flashlights while he worked into the evening.
Hector did a really good job with matching the color and finish of the stucco.  He really knows his stucco.
Overall, it was a mixed bag.  Everyone was friendly and easy to deal with and responsive to all our questions.  They were gracious in letting us modify the contract.  The quality of the stucco work was really good.  If they would have built the scaffolding to access the work areas, I think we would have been really happy and had all the original work done and our rating would reflect that.
The price seemed steep, but the other estimates we had were in-line with Metro's estimate so I rated it Fair.   While Ben assured us that they could reach the areas with scaffolding, Brady said they wouldn't need it but would not cover damaged tiles if they broke them.  The scaffolding access was one of the reasons we went with them so I rated the professionalism as Fair .  Punctuality was Fair because of the evening visit and missed day.  However, we are very flexible with our schedule so we worked around their schedule and it didn't bother us that much.

FAQs for concrete work projects in Como, CO

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.

Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.

Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.

An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
