"I needed to replace the front steps because they were pulling away from the foundation. I received several quotes and Republic Masonry (Henry) came in with a budget friendly price. Henry and his co-worker were professional and very detail oriented and cleaned up when the job was complete. The stairs look wonderful! I would highly recommend Republic Masonry (Henry) for all your cement projects. Kathy Faye"

"08-AUG-2025 Issues began immediately after hiring Pro Foundation & Masonry. During the estimate, I told Foreman Bobby there was no mortar in the cinder blocks. He gave a quote that I believed included proper mortar. On Aug-12-2025, I raised the issue again?he said he was ?focused on the damaged area.? When digging, a missing footing section was found, and Bobby quoted $22,500, which I thought was too high. Though he fixed some cracks, major ones in the cellar were ignored. They used the wrong mortar (not S mortar as discussed) and left sloppy drippings inside the wall. I sent photos on Aug-23; Bobby replied on Aug-25 saying the floor was dirt. Promised cleanup on Aug-30 never happened. I followed up repeatedly?no one came. They even left a dangerous cinder remnant that I tripped on. A section of wall was filled with concrete instead of block?looks unprofessional. They say one thing, do another. I?m very unhappy with their work and service. They're gonna fix the two crack on my fieldstone foundation. The manager Rey came and he felt really bad that the foreman left in this way they left it. He was really pretty readsonable."

"Bob contacted me within 1 day of posting. He was kind and we set up appointment to see area and bid on project. Discovered the concrete Sealer best applied in 50 degree or above. It's winter and just had a snow storm. Will wait until spring. Thank you Bob. Deserves 5 stars"

"Mike and his crew are great! They added a new section to my existing paver driveway. He listened to what I wanted, even the changes I made along the way. They built a new retaining wall and the new section of the driveway match the shape and color to the existing one perfectly! They are all very professional, neat and a pleasure to deal with. I am now having him double the size of my Blue stone patio around my pool. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!"

"AC Stonework's installed a beautiful patio for us several years ago. Over time, some of the bricks began to sink and the accumulated dirt discolored some other bricks. I called Alcir and he stopped by the next day. We agreed on a price for the repair and it was done that week. It looks like a brand new patio and we are very pleased."

"Highly recommend this company! We used New England Foundation Crack Repair to install 3 lally columns in our basement and fill a foundation gap for radon purposes. They were incredibly great to work with every stage of the process from assessment, quote, communication and completion. Price was reasonable too!"

"Mike, with help of his wife Marlene installed pre-finished hardwood floors in three bedrooms. Issues included finding a manufacturer that would match existing floors, removing baseboard, working around multiple door jams, closets, radiators, coordinating deliveries, set up shop in living room and working on a three day time frame. All issues were addressed with professionalism. Mike found a superior wood flooring, the floor blends seamlessly with the old floors, and Mike also brought in an additional helper to ensure the project was completed on time. We love our floors! Two thumbs up!"

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.
Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.
Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.
An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
