"Most importantly, they did wonderful paver and mortar work on our walkway, and are very fair & reasonably priced. Great communication. Everything was done according to what was defined and agreed upon, which led to a smooth and pleasant experience We are extremely happy with the great work that they did. Jessy and Rudy were very nice and gladly explained things whenever we had any questions. Everything came out better than expected and looks awesome!!! After getting estimates from several companies, we are so glad that we eventually decided to go with F& B Concrete & Masonry. Highly recommended!!!! AAAAAA++++++"

"I would recommend Carl Bongiorno & Sons to everyone. This was a very big job that got bigger as we went along. Over 3,000 sq ft of patio pavers done the right way over a steel reinforced concrete base. A fire pit with bench, a spillover spa, a built in outdoor barbecue area, both rear steps, a retaining wall, a gravel side of house parking area, sod and landscape plantings. Throughout the entire process there was constant communication with Carl and his sons Carl Jr and Garret. They battled mother nature and other contractors with true professionalism. Their equipment is top notch and they did a great clean up every day prior to leaving. As with any project with anyone the more you know about what you want and are able to communicate it to them the better they can assist you with the design of your project. Carl Sr has been in business for a long time and it is now a family business that will be around for a long time to come. I highly recommend them and will use them again. Check out their website for additional work and reviews."

"The Zavza Seal team were polite, professional, proficient. They removed tile from our Church basement fellowship hall and replaced with an overlay of colored painted and speckles over our existing concrete. The work was done with care and concern to produce the best possible outcome. They worked diligently to get the work completed to our satisfaction. Excellent workmanship."

"Im am so happy with the work that was done on my house. Tyler came and gave a very fair estimate on lifting my concrete side entrance stairs to my basement. He explained every step of the process and did exactly what we wanted with no issues. Everything was done to perfection. No damage was done and you cant even tell the stairs ever needed a repair in the first place. I would highly recommend this company and would hire again for any future jobs."

"He came to my home the same day that I called to give me an estimate for snow removal. It was reasonable. The next day he cleaned leaves off my driveway. Carlos was prompt and courteous. It has not snowed yet."

"job well done. communication could use improvement."

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.
Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.
Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.
An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
