"From start to finish this company performed like the professionals they are. The salesman came out within a day, got my quote within 2 days and the work was scheduled within a week. The guys were courteous, professional and made their job look easy. I had my sidewalk raised and the crack filled and also had about 6 bricks replaced on my front porch. The work turned out better than I could have imagined! I recommend this company to anyone who needs concrete repairs. Great job to everyone involved!!!"

"Dani, Jose, and the Concreto Plus crew did really nice work. I am very pleased with my new concrete driveway. Concreto Plus gave me an initial estimate and worked with me throughout the process to make sure things went smoothly. They also worked well with the needed county inspectors to ensure the new driveway was in compliance with local regulations."

"Started off a day late but was informed in advance. Work moved steady, but paused waiting for the concrete supplier; again was informed so we could adjust the schedule. During design of the walks, we had full say and before each step in the prep and shaping, we had approvals. Before the pour, we made a design change without problems. All of this approval control made for an excellent set of walks. The driveway required edging the overgrown grass and dirt/water cleaning before the sealing."

"Austin Wells handled our sinking concrete pad and cracks near my garage. He explained everything, neat, and very professional. My wife and I appreciated how he wore a uniform and conducted himself in as an expert in his field. I would definitely call JES again, in particular, Austin Wells to handle any other concrete leveling issues."

"The entire team is very professional from the office personnel to the workers. The team was on time every day. They work with my schedule. They were always in communication even when things did not go as planned They made me aware of my options. The team was very neat. The boss was always present on the job. "BR/ Craig Smith’s replied was timely and his visit (construction cost estimate) was comprehensive and educational. However, my patio paver project began a little misguided: ready, fire, aim, meaning, it was initiated as a too eagerly planned DIY (materials purchased, time allocated). That said, gonna make another run at the it and hope for the best. Footnote: BR is a full service company, that is, design and build, start-to-finish operation. Given that my patio project is already under DIY construction, the intervention price-point was, understandably, over budget. Craig, thank you again for stopping-by."

FAQs for concrete work projects in Harwood, MD

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.

Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.

Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.

An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
