"Hoffman Concrete provided excellent seam caulking and sealing of our concrete sidewalk and driveway. Hoffman concrete originally poured the sidewalk’s and driveway’s concrete to our design and did a excellent job."

"Midwest Concrete (Tom, Ben, and the guys) gave us a great bid on our pool and concrete work. They were punctual, polite, and worked with great skill. They completed the job in a timely manner and kept the work area clean. We would definitely use them again. Thank you Midwest Concrete!"

"Animals were nesting in cavities under the stoops leading from our breakfast room and family room. We hired Atlas to fill the cavities and to level the concrete slabs on our patio. The work was done well. Holes were patched smoothly. It was a relatively small job but Atlas was professional and seems to have done the work properly. Users should note that the color of the concrete used to fill the holes does not match the aged concrete through which the holes were drilled, but that is unavoidable and does not reflect on the quality of Atlas' workmanship.

"Our foundation was failing. It was pushed in 4 1/2 " in one space which was crowding our sewer lines, doors sticking, and a gap between the wall and ceiling. There was also sagging brick and pressure on exterior door. We called FRS, they came out, the process was smooth with Jared. He was in contact with us while we waited for the crew to come out. The crew showed up on time, let us know everything they were doing. We had questions and they answered fully and were very accomodating. Josh's crew and especially his foreman Chad stayed on top of everything and got the job done quickly and efficiently. This job was completed in 2 days with the finishing dirt work being completed by Josh himself. They scheduled a landscaping crew to come out in the spring and supplied us with a solid date before they left the premisis. Yes this was quite an expense but for the lifetime warranty, the job they did, and the peace of mind it is worth every penny we spent. FRS will be back out in 1 year to check and make sure the wall is still where it should be and will do adjustments if needed. Thank you FRS, I can rest easy knowing my foundation structure is safe and my family is safe as well."

"Had a great experience with Bri-Co and Harold. They gave a fair bid and stuck to it, they showed up when they said they would, charged what they said they would, and checked in on everything regularly with kindness, integrity, and a down-to-earth sense of humor. The workers were also polite and kind, and even came in rough weather to complete the job as they said they would. I don’t usually write reviews, but I feel confident doing so and have even recommended to friends. The result (concrete tie wall) is beautiful and solid. Even the neighbors commented on how great it looks."

"Rep came out and did measurements to give us a quote on replacing our back patio with either poured concrete or pavers.  Everything went well until he came to give us the bids.  As the rep started explaining the 2 products Allen Outdoor offered, he started by telling us that the concrete is a bad choice as it could start to break down within 6 months.  Why would you offer something and then say it's poor quality?  He then went on to explain why pavers (obviously the much more expensive option) would be the only things to stand the test of time.  Since we were trying to keep the process more economical, we asked question about how we could make concrete work for us, but were told again and again how concrete would be a poor choice and would break down quickly.  All said and done, the meeting felt a bit forceful and we didn't feel comfortable trusting a relatively big job to a company that offered us an option that they themselves didn't trust.

"It went extremely well. It had been so bad before. We almost went with concrete but for just a little bit more we were able to get pavers. We are so pleased with the results. The crew worked incredibly hard and it looks fantastic. A major upgrade for us."

"Jim was very responsive on all fronts and overall I am very happy with the work that was done. Our project was a fairly unique one which included a subcontracted concrete job, a wood perimeter fence, a garden fence with wire inlay, and an aluminum fence. The entire job was done to satisfaction and we are very happy with the services provided. We will be referring friends their way. Thanks very much for your efforts on this project."

FAQs for concrete work projects in Maryland Heights, MO

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.

Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.

Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.

An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
