"Pioneer did an awesome job replacing a large pad and walkway which had sunken 3-4" due to poor installation work by the home builder(Zicka Homes) 20+ yrs ago. They were on time as scheduled, did a great job communicating plans. They were mindful to protect the grass and landscaping. The concrete had to be hauled around back from the concrete truck 200 ' away on the street. Their clean up was spotless!"

"If I could give more stars I would. Tim and Christian were very professional from start to finish. Tim answered all my questions and kept me in the loop and Christian and the crew were timely, professional and did exceptional work. I would use CT Decorative Concrete again and I would recommend them to anyone for concrete needs."

"My front sidewalk was showing signs of deterioration from the past winters cold cycles and the salt put down to melt the snow and ice. John Construction recommended a power wash and sealer to protect the sidewalk. Their bid was competitive and thework do was first class. The workers were very nice, friendly and of course competent. They even caulked around my concrete porch and house. I recommend John Hall."

"Iran H, Chris M and Floyd C were the service people from Ohio Basement Authority who repaired a leaning concrete block foundation wall in the basement and installed a sump pump. They did excellent, considerate work and I would recommend them for a similar project."

"York Concrete construction does quality work, however as they stated Concrete cracks problem is they did not advise us of that fact until after a crack started at our 4x4 wood post hole. We replaced our porch concrete floor because it was cracked since it was originally poured in 1997."

"They came out and looked at it, gave us a price. We paid the deposit, but after several weeks of not hearing from them, we called them. They gave us a future date of about 6 weeks, so we waited. Fine. When they came out to do the repair, they injected about 4 dime-size holes with the foam material. It did lift the concrete, but he said he could not lift it any higher. We are left with a gap still of almost an inch. And now we have ponding water in another section of the walkway. If they were not able to completely fix the problem, they should have told us up front if we would have to replace the concrete rather than the foam injection. Now, we are out $1300, and still have a gap and ponding water. Also, the technician never gave us a receipt, even though we asked twice for one to be sent. It has been several weeks since we first notified them of our complaint, and they have still not come out to fix it like they promised. Hopefully they will follow through. The man we dealt with over the phone seemed very nice, but we want the project completed correctly."

"They took their time to make sure all the spots that collected water were nice and even, took time placing the proper material between gravel and dirt to ensure no growth on my beautiful new gravel patio. I will be having them return to do more work, we were more the pleased with our end result !"

FAQs for concrete work projects in Milford, OH

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.

Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.

Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.

An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
