"Ike and his team did an outstanding job. We had concrete decking and mastic around our pool that was cracking and needed replacement. They were efficient and expeditious in the way they removed the old concrete, and they were able to lay new decking that was a perfect match with the adjacent concrete. Ike is energetic, attentive, and a joy to work with."

"This is a highly exceptionally quality company. My second job - continuing from original, around side yard into back yard. All work was performed to excellent perfection. I was given a start date, workers were on time, started and completed in timeline and excellent craftsmanship was performed. All questions were talked out and nothing was left hanging. Job site was left clean and no need for a return trip to fix a problem. 4 years between jobs and you couldn’t tell were work was finished and started. Method Paving will always be my go to contractor. Rick the owner is a stand up man who made sure work performed was to the expected quality!"

"We hired Abraham and his 3 sons to add or repair 6 cement areas in the front And back yard. We were very pleased with their ideas, workmanship, and the price was fair. ( we had 2 other potential bids) This family is amazing to work with!!. Timely and very pleasant too. We would definitely work with them again. Thanks Abraham!"

Review highlights: - Fair price - not the highest and not the lowest but gave a clear estimate - Polite and hardworking team, problem solved as they came across any issues - Always gave us prior information about their schedule and arrived on time - They wore masks - Cleaned up at the end of their work - Were respectful of property - Finished the project on time with great results - I would definitely hire them for my future projects"

Small jobs welcome

"We highly recommend Brian O'Neill. He replaced a rotting deck for us. He showed up when he said he would, he stayed on the job to the finish and stayed within our very tight budget. He is hard working and very honest. Very good workmanship too. We will definitely hire him again for the rest of the deck. Patt MB, Los Gatos, CA Project: Replace old deck"

"After 8 quotes to install pavers on a small patio in which all told me they had a minimun or that simply, I wouldn't get any proper follow up. I get to hear a professional estimate at the fair price. Took two days to install and I cannot be happier with what got delivered!!!!"

FAQs for concrete work projects in Palo Alto, CA

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.

Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.

Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.

An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
