"Promptly responded to my request for quote, was fairly priced and was able to get the job done within a few days. Team was careful not to impact the surrounding garden and cleaned up all the debris after. Really happy with 5 Star Concrete's work!"

Customers say: Quality work

"Ismael was amazing to work with! He was so accommodating with scheduling us to have our patio done! Very professional, excellent quality of work, great at communicating with us and making sure we were happy! He kept us in the loop with what the plans were and what they were going to get done each day and always made sure to check with us before any changes were made. The patio looks AMAZING! We did the stamped concrete and absolutely love it! 10/10 recommend Ismael and his crew!"

Customers say: Super punctual

"La Mantia did a great job of pouring the concrete slab for my shed project. Even though this was a small project, La Mantia agreed to accommodate me and treated it with the same care as if it were a large commercial site. The service was prompt, courteous and professional. Great communication along the way as I was out of town during the construction. Couldn't be happier with this contractor."

"My first few quotes showed me what the patio would look like with paver bricks and I thought that was my only option. They suggested concrete which I actually wanted originally. They started about a week after our chat and finished the job in a day. It looks really good and clean"

"Crew arrived on time and worked efficiently. As the project progressed, 2 foundation cracks were discovered which added $900 to the original estimate. Old insulation along foundation wall was removed and replaced with silvery foam sheets. Joints were taped. Some leveling of the floor was done. Sheets were laid over the gravel floor also (crawlspace is not used for storage). 2 window well covers were installed. Our main goal was to have a warmer floor in the room above. We haven't noticed a major improvement yet."

"It went pretty well. They tool longer than I thought, and they used a sealant (gray) that didn't match the color of our house (white) or the concrete stoop. We were planning on painting it anyway, so in the end it's not a big deal. We like Real Seal and would use them again."

FAQs for concrete work projects in Woodridge, IL

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.

Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.

Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.

An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
