"We hired Moretti Landscaping and Masonry to remove an old gravel driveway which had old asphalt underneath. Frank came to the house, gave an estimate, and filed for the permit in my Village! That was a big help with permitting and documentation, etc.,. The project turned out great. The crew of workers was A+, really great guys and workers! They work fast, neat and professionally. I recommend Moretti Landscaping and Masonry based on my experience and project. 1"

"Luis provided a quotation, excavated the ground around the wall, and replaced a portion of the concrete-block wall with a poured concrete wall. He was at all times diligent in his work, prompt in providing updates, and patient in addressing my questions."

"We were so grateful to have found Bolani Masonry. Antonio is honest, ethical, professional, and an expert in his field. He clearly takes true pride in his craft. His response time was unparalleled to any other contractor we have worked with. He took the time to survey the property and the drainage issue and damage we had with our blue stone patio, gave us fair pricing and several options/solutions, and provided a clear timeline for the project. He and the crew arrived on time, were professional and courteous at all times, and completed the work within the estimated time frame planned. The finished product was as promised, professional grade, and prevented the issue we had from recurring. We welcome the opportunity to work with him again and highly recommend him!"

"We had a very tight schedule to dig and pour 8 footings and a concrete pad for a new deck. Jeff came through for us and had the footings dug quickly even though it was not easy digging. Because of the location of my septic tank and field, using heavy machinery was not an option. They worked around every obstruction including large rocks and drainage pipes while hand digging each of the footings. Jeff worked with my carpenter to ensure that the holes were exactly where they needed to be and was adaptable to making changes on the spot. Jeff and all his employees were courteous and a pleasure to talk to. We really appreciated how he worked with us on such short notice and that the quality of the work was great."

"We could not be happier with our choice of Fredy's Contracting Inc. to complete our patio. Within an hour of our call on a Saturday morning, Fredy's son was at our house measuring our patio. Within 48 hours we had a written bid emailed to us. Work started within the 3 week time-frame we had agreed upon. Jose and his crew excavated (most by hand because of the awkward space) and leveled everything in a day. The next day, they worked through a rainstorm and laid the pavers for our gorgeous patio. We are do-it yourself kind of folks, there is no way we could have done this on our own. Top notch work, professional people, and all done in a timely manner. We will be calling them back for our next job! Highly recommended!! Wendy & Jim Moore"

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.
Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.
Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.
An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
