Anas was present throughout the entire build. His communication was stellar, they worked incredibly hard and the deck they built is exactly what we hoped for. He showed up on time and the deck was finished within the promised timeframe. We have had some horrible experiences with contractors, so we really wanted to share this excellent recommendation with those in Ten Trails who may be considering having a deck built. Petra Decks builds both composite and wood decks, along with patio covers, etc for a full outdoor living experience. "You can stop looking, you have found an honest builder with pride in workmanship. I looked for months for a deck builder I felt would do a good job. Several of them were from Angies list and they were not interested in what I wanted, they were interested in what they could sell me. I talked to them about the fact that I had a mature garden and they would need to work around the plants. They told me I would have to move the plants. I wanted to know if the structure of the deck was still safe. They told me they wouldn’t know until they took the deck apart. I told them what my budget was. They had no advise or options to offer. I balked. They mansplained. I tore up their bids which were outrageous. One was for $33,000. It just isn’t that big a deck. I was really bummed. Then I found Ray. Ray came to my house and inspected the deck I had. He even crawled under it to check the structure. He answered questions. He explained the process and told me what it would cost to replace the deck I had. It was too expensive. He suggested alternative designs that would fit my budget. We talked back and forth for three weeks until we had a nice design that I could afford. He understood about my garden and assured me they could work around the plants and would be careful. He brought me decking samples, discussed pros and cons of different materials, and was patient and answered all my questions. He sent me a schematic of the deck with an estimate that listed supplies. I hired him. Ray and his son were the first contractors to work on my home that I didn’t feel I had to watch to make sure they did the job I paid them for. In fact, when they got some bad materials, they took them back to the supplier rather than just use them anyway. They finished the job at the cost we agreed on and there were no surprises. They left my property cleaner than they found it and not one plant lost its life to them. I now have a deck that is beautiful and that will outlast me. Decks are not all Ray and his son do. The next project I do on my home, this company will be the first I call."

"These guys are stellar. My deck was in disrepair and I was uncertain what to do with it - whether to totally knock it down and start anew, or to build on the existing foundation. Also what material to use - composite, wood, etc. They came out, looked at my deck, gave recommendations, and worked within my budget. We went with cedar, and within two weeks, I had an absolutely beautiful new deck, built on the existing foundation. It was for me an exceedingly good experience with a contractor, and their work is solid. I was nervous as a first time home owner to hire a contractor, for fear of not knowing enough and being taken. I had spoken with several other general contractors and also specific deck builders prior to hiring Modern Exteriors, and each could have built a deck. One larger company offered a lower price but when they came out, the materials they suggested would have been sub-par and the deck would have been plastic-looking. I have several rental homes and price but more importantly quality work is very important for my investments. From my first interaction the team did a great job estimating and replacing a roof that had major storm damage from a tree falling on it. They replaced the entire roof materials as well as repaired a bunch of the roof decking. Everything was done quickly, with great quality and even the clean up of all of the old materials was spotless. Easy breezy for sure!"
