"Dave and his brother did an excellent job installing our new fireplace insert. Dave matched the existing old rocks so that you cannot tell which are new except for the undried cement which is still a little darker."

"Fireplace is great. However, it took 6 weeks and three subsequent visits to fix the first improper installation. On first three visits, the technicians failed to properly install fireplace, making separate errors each time. Each visit was at least two weeks later. Also, we were never advised the fan was not controlled by the remote, so the only way to change its level is to take the bottom front plate out and manually adjust the fan each time we wish to change it, hoping we do not scratch the surfaces. The manager's reaction to my disappointment about this feature was basically indifference."

"I am pleased with the repair of bricks on the top entry step leading into my familyroom and on bottom of the fireplace. Jim and his worker were on time, skilled masonry, cleaned the area and removed debris."

"Overall, the project went very well. Jose, Dan, and their crew were amazing in their professionalism, craftsmanship, and providing solutions to unexpected challenges. The only drawback would be the manufacturers delays getting the product that we selected. The delays were outside the control of The Paver Company. They were very cost competitive and we would hire them again."

"It went great! What was once just dirt and weeds is now beautiful land and hardscape! Roney was very responsive to our requests and ideas and quickly came back with a design we were exited to get implemented. Within a few days a full crew was on-site to start the work. As the work started there were a few areas where his foreman Juan recommended modifications. These modifications were very positive and above and beyond the original agreement and at no additional cost to us, which made my husband very happy! Those included replacement of 3 steps to our deck from wood to concrete, increased length of the sidewalk, improved fencing beyond the original design, some additional irrigation work and fixing the base of another set of stairs to regulation height by adding flagstone. Juan had great vision for how to make these changes so the outcome went from beautiful to outstanding! And the crown jewel of this whole project is a custom, unique fire pit that I found only as a picture from the internet. Juan pulled this off with no formal instructions, just a solitary picture and his own creativity! We could not be happier and certainly recommend Babylon Garden Landscaping."

"Initially I set up an appointment to get an estimate for our kitchen. I was informed that there was a fee of 125.00 to come to my home to do that. At first I was a little skeptical, but then it was explained to me that the 125.00 would be included with the cost of the job. I had them come out and the gentlemen that came out were very nice. They did all the measuring and listened to exactly want we wanted to have done. They also made some recommendations on where we should go to look for our flooring and such. They were very courteous and knowledgeable. My husband and I went to the stores that they suggested and I found some beautiful tile. We checked out a few samples to see how they would look with the lighting in our house. We placed the tiles on our floor in different parts of the kitchen to see which one I liked the best. My husband actually left the final decision up to me. I made my decision and called up Spectrum One. We had already purchased our appliances and they had gave us a list of other material that was needed. Once everything was set up, the guys came out to do the job. They were on time and cleaned up after themselves. They were very hard workers and made sure that the job was dust free. Not only did they do an awesome job on my floor, but they also did a beautiful back splash. I was very pleased with the installation of my cabinets. I would definitely refer them to all my family and friends.

Start with a professional inspection. If damage is limited to a few bricks or the crown, a targeted repair helps keep costs and disruption to a minimum. Severe leaning, widespread mortar failure, or major fire damage usually signals it’s time for a complete teardown and rebuild. Your contractor will outline both price tags, but remember that rebuilding a failing stack is often cheaper than repeated patch jobs and the water leaks or fire hazards they allow.
Cracks provide water with an easy path into the masonry, weakening the bricks and mortar and increasing the risk of collapse or fire. Gaps can also let hot gases and sparks escape into attic spaces. Call a chimney pro as soon as you see cracking so they can seal small joints or recommend a larger rebuild before minor damage turns into a costly emergency.
Smoke rolling back into the room often indicates a blocked flue, a broken damper, or a drafting issue. Have a sweep inspect the damper, flue liner, and any obstructions right away. Most fixes involve clearing debris, repairing the liner, or adjusting the damper so the fireplace pulls air correctly. Don’t light another fire until a professional pinpoints the cause and confirms your system is venting safely.
Most policies cover chimney repairs caused by a sudden, covered event, such as lightning, a fallen tree, or a house fire. They won’t cover damage that stems from neglected maintenance or everyday wear. Review your policy or contact your agent before scheduling work to determine what documentation your insurer requires and what costs you will be responsible for.
Component life spans vary. Clay tile or cast-in-place liners last close to 50 years, while stainless-steel liners last 15 to 20 years. Mortar requires attention every 25 to 30 years, while crowns last 50 to 75 years. Use these numbers as a maintenance roadmap: schedule regular inspections, budget for future upgrades, and replace parts before age-related cracks develop into more significant problems.
