      Comment: Hello. My partner and I recently purchased a condo in Northeast DC and we are interested in installing an electric fireplace with a stone veneer surrounding it. We envision the veneer spanning from the door to the ceiling (approx 8 feet) and about 5 feet wide, with an electric fireplace recessed into it, We would like the ability to mount our TV above the electric fireplace, preferably not recessed into the stone veneer. We are also interested in installing some counter height shelves/drawers on both sides of the stone veneer, possibly with room to put in a wine fridge. We would like this project to be as cosmetic as possible, o example without gutting the walls. We have done some research on this and found that it can often be done by building a wood frame that attaches to the wall (and stone tiles are adhered to it) and the electric fireplace is recessed into the frame (as opposed to the actual wall).
