"My MIL needed some help deciding what to do with an old and slowly failing garage. I called several companies for prelim discussion and these folks had a solid action plan that made good sense. Then came out for physical inspection and adjusted plan needs accordingly. Replacement was skillful, professipnal and price competitive with very courteous installer. I'm happy about that and my MIL is happier! Well done."

"Accurate Insulation did an excellent job of removing the old doors and hardware, they arrived on time, and went right to work removing the original doors put in by an Overhead Door contractor in Prince Frederick MD. this contractor in Prince Frederick, MD after the garage door had fallen on the luggage rack on my Chevy Tahoe Breaking the luggage rack and bending the bottom section of the garage door! The owner of the company a jerk named Ralph refused to fix #1 the door and #2 my Tahoe! I called Quality Built Homes and they informed me that they had fired that contractor and they paid to have the Tahoe fixed. QBH sent the new contractor to our house and they fixed the door! Again I would highly recommend Accurate Insulation!"

"I needed a lot of yard trash removed before my property was sold. They came out, worked hard, and did everything I asked. The new owners "found" more trash, and they went back out and removed that too. They're polite and stick to their estimates. Highly recommended!"

"I am so unbelievably happy with my new garage doors! Western Cary delivered on their products, service, and timeline. In less than four hours, my garage doors were replaced, including removal of the old ones! The amazing gentlemen who did the work were absolute pros! They were so very competent and skilled in their work. I am very impressed and will consider them for future projects, as they also do other types of projects. Thank you Angie s List and Western Cary!!!!"
Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.
Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.
A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.
Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.
A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.
Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.
If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
