Customers say: True professional
"Our house has been completely transformed and we are very happy with the outcome. Dave's work and professionalism is exceptional. He operates on the principle as if he's working on his own home. He cares. He will redo completed work if it's not right. Can't beat that. He responds very quickly to phone calls and text messages. I would highly recommend Diamondwood Inc."

"Larry and his crew restored the exterior of our half-log sided home by stripping/sanding and then applying 3 coats of exterior stain. Our home is a 6,000 sq ft home and was in need of complete restoration. This was a multiple week project. The quality of CLS' work and attention to detail was outstanding, Larry and his crew treated our home like it was there home and the finished product is a "work of art". Larry and his crew were very conscientious, dedicated and professional. We enjoyed having them with us and are thrilled with the outcome of the project."

"He did a good job."
Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.
Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.
A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.
Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.
A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.
Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.
If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
