"The two men (Trent and Clay) who did the floor were extremely prompt, courteous and friendly. They went above and beyond to make it a painless experience (moving a refrigerator, etc). Our home is nearly 50 years old and we thought it would be impossible to improve that old garage but now we love our new garage floor. Thank you"

"Repair job turned into a new opener installation. Felt their diagnosis and recommendation to install new opener was honest and fair. Honored (without asking) an old coupon 'sticker' on the garage door for labor discount and also one for a free keypad opener. And accepted a free service call discount for mentioning the phone book ad. Very professional job and customer interaction. Very pleased overall. Only 4.5 stars above ...because very little is truly worth 5 stars, IMHO."

"I just wanted to take a moment to thank Cardinal Doors for their excellent service. We needed a new Garage Door, so I started looking around and found Cardinal Doors in Newton which is close to where we live. I called and spoke to Brandon, got an estimate and one week later we had a new door. Honestly, we could not be happier. These guys were completely prepared, professional, a pleasure to work with and went out of their way to make us happy. Fantastic job guys. I thank you and highly recommend your company."

"It went great. Good guy and good work."

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.
Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.
A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.
Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.
A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.
Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.
If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
