"Great. Have used this company before, and will call again in future. My door is off kilter due to shifting foundation, and have always had reoccurring problems. Worker took time to figure out problem, explain it to me, and let me know he'd come right back if needed. Had an extra part that was a bit hard to find that worked real well for me."

"David, the owner, was very responsive to my call for a new garage door; he provided me with a comprehensive quote for the work that needed to be done. And, he had the new garage door installed and working within the time frame that he had given me for when he would be able to get the job done."

"I have a double car-door garage that needed new doors. I wanted a non-standard door set-up. I wanted functionally barn yard doors that were very secure, I did not want electric power assist to open the doors but instead wanted doors that could be pushed open with no more than my pinky finger. Other vendors were not interested in doing this but just offered conventional doors. Eric, on the other hand, said that he would love to build such doors as he had been thinking about such a design himself. It didn't hurt that he offered a price $2000 less than his competitors. I watched him build these doors. He loves his work, has a sharp eye for details and is a fun guy! The new doors are very solid and beautiful! My plumber walked by and immediately asked if Eric would build a yard shed for him! I now want him to build a security door for my entry into the garage with the same security and looks as his car entry doors."

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.
Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.
A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.
Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.
A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.
Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.
If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
