"All calls and appointments were kept on time. Constantly kept us informed about the project He offered us the use of his trailer to store our garage contents while the work was being completed start to finish. Mr. Bryan Dawn was a delight to work with throughout the project. My wife and I would work with this company on any future projects."

"We had an outstanding experience with Lytle Concrete! They removed a large number of unruly bushes and trees, cleared out all the river rock and oversized stones, and completely transformed our landscaping. They also poured beautiful new concrete steps leading to our front door with excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail. We especially appreciated their honesty and integrity as they saved us money by determining our existing sidewalk did not need to be replaced. They also installed a buried drainage pipe to divert water away from our foundation, which has already helped with basement flooding due to our high water table. Communication was excellent, pricing was fair, and the work was completed on time. They truly transformed our home into something we’re proud of. Highly recommend!"

"this is the second time we have had Legacy work on our home. Our home was built in 1992 and the windows and doors were not looking as good as we wanted. This time around we replaced 12 windows and two doors. Legacy also painted a fence for us and replaced some cedar that was bad"

"The initial visit is one of the most important steps for me, as having an experienced assessment of the job helps with ordering the right parts and understanding the flow of work so that everything gets done. MPO gave me many useful suggestions as to how to solve problems (this alone was worth the cost), and Francisco went so far as to counsel me about the best closet door within my price range. He then picked up all of the materials that I needed, including the door, so delivery was effortless for this client who does not own a car. Ernesto methodically and meticulously went through all of the items on my list. It was a joy to come home every day and see the improvements. When the door needed more time to be delivered, they delayed the final day of the job so that I stayed with a week. These guys were punctual and know their stuff, good about scheduling and getting the job done. Highly recommended!"

FAQs for garage and garage door service projects in New Troy, MI

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.

Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.

A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.

Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.

A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.

Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.

If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
