"Prolift is an honest trustworthy company. I was having trouble with my garage door closing. It would almost close then start flashing and come back up. I called a company to look at it and they told me I needed $800 worth of work that included a tension spring. I called Prolift for a another opinion and Nick came out and told me there was nothing wrong with my garage door. All it needed was some oil on the hinges. He explained it was not my tension spring. I couldn't believe the other company tried to take make for a $800 ride for something I didn't need and the tension spring wasn't even causing the problem. Nick put oil on my door hinges and didn't even charge me. My door is working perfectly. I was so impressed with his honesty. This company is the real deal. Don't call anyone else in Charleston but Prolift if you want the truth about your garage door. Plus they offer free estimates. No sevice fee to come out. Prolift is my garage door company. Call them if you're having trouble with your garage door. You won't be disappointed. It's nice to see a company that doesn't try to take advantage of women. I did let the other company know I didn't appreciate them trying to sell me something I didn't need and they refunded my service fee I paid for them to come out and lie to me. Prolift will not lie to you. They will tell you the truth about your garage door."

"I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience with Conson garage doors. Communication was great, evaluation of my issue was honest with options given to me concerning what I wanted to do.I decided to go for a new opener since the “ builders special” opener that was originally installed was not really powerful enough for the door. Installation was done professionally and price was reasonable. Paul went above and beyond to make sure my questions on door operations were answered and he assisted me in setting up some of the available programs. I am fortunate to have chosen this company for my install, and I would highly recommend them for an honest and fair evaluation of any garage door issues you may be having. Steve S"

"Excellent product and excellent service on installation. I replaced two thin builder quality garage doors with 3 layer doors and new motors. Really pleased with the results. Highly recommend this firm."
Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.
Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.
A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.
Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.
A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.
Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.
If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
