"Brandon is the best. I had purchased my own door and materials, and was in the process of replacing the door myself, but was out of my depth once I ran into an issue with the old tracks in concrete. Brandon came, assessed the situation, gave me honest advice about what needed to be done and what materials I should/shouldn't use. The price agreed upon was very reasonable. I left all the products he needed where we agreed upon and he got the job done in one day. I'm glad I listened to him and went with the garage opener he suggested as I've found I'm using the garage way more than I previously thought I would. It's been 8 months and we've had no problems with the garage door; everything works smoothly. I highly recommend him and would not hesitate to reach out again for any other door projects."

"I love, love, love my new door! Gaetano made sure that I had all the information I needed to make the right selection. He actually talked me out of spending more money for the "pretty carriage door" and guided me to a better quality door for less money. Very honest and trustworthy."

FAQs for garage and garage door service projects in Palisades Park, NJ

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.

Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.

A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.

Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.

A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.

Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.

If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
