"I got a call from Kasey within minutes of posting the request. After describing the problems over the phone I was told what to expect for repairs. The work was performed very quickly and I was educated on garage door maintenance as a bonus. I thought the price was very fair as well. I would highly recommend KSE Garage Door Services."

"Great service and very reasonable! I called AB Garage Door on a Tuesday morning, Alan got back to me a little over an hour later and was at my house approximately 15 minutes after that. Wow! They fixed my broken cable, replaced a roller, and lubricated the mechanisms. My garage door now works like new. Agree with comments about being careful about other companies using call centers, etc. I made that mistake in the past. Highly recommend Alan and his company!"

Murrays Garage Door Services is owner-operated by Eric Murray right here in Chelmsford, MA. When you call, you get me, not a call center or a random subcontractor. I handle garage door repairs, spring and cable replacements, opener installation and repair, and full door installations across the Merrimack Valley and Greater Lowell area. Im fully licensed and insured (MA HIC #212677) and I show up when I say I will, quote the job honestly, and stand behind my work. Most repairs are done same day or next day because I know a stuck garage door means your car is trapped or your home isnt secure. Whether its a broken spring at 7am or a new insulated door to upgrade your curb appeal, youll get straight answers and fair pricing from someone who actually lives in the community he serves.

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.
Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.
A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.
Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.
A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.
Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.
If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
