"Improve America was professional in every sense of the word. They were courtesy, prompt, accommodating, and completely committed to ensuring our satisfaction. We were so pleased with the garage overhang they built we asked them to do additional work. Their craftsmanship and pride in "getting it right" were inspirational. As Scott repeatedly said, "We'll make you proud!" And they did!"

"Doug Spohn was recommended by the architect we had design the remodel/addition. The first thing that stood out to me was his punctuality. He said he would be over at 10:00 to look it over for bidding, and when he saw he would be about 5 minutes late, he called to let us know he was running a little late. He submitted his bid when he said he would, with the right amount of detail. He detailed the bid in order to allow me to do some of the work and save some money. From day one on the job, he was here when the workers were. His subcontractors were great. They were all very professional, courteous and respectful. The job was finished when he said it would be. He was great choice, and we now have a friend in Doug. I would recommend him to everyone.

"I highly recommend Lambo’s Garage Door Service. Sean was extremely professional and he thoroughly checked out all parts on my garage door. He replaced my rollers along with faulty hinges, tuned up all the moving parts and wired my garage door opener correctly He also reset my sensors to the perfect position and added a wall mount remote opener for me. The difference in the quietness and smoothness of my door is amazing."

"Our deck, while not large, is unique in that it has a large boulder protruding up through it. I was worried that whomever I hired wouldnâ t handle that well. Jordan and his partner understood and even expressed their preference for creative projects. They did an excellent job, we were impressed and very happy with the result. You can rest easy hiring W Woodworks for your projectâ ¦.."

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.
Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.
A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.
Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.
A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.
Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.
If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
