"Holston Homes knows their stuff! Colin helped me decide the best type of heat and air system, priced options, and got the job done quickly. He also installed a whole house humidifier, which is a game changer in winter when the heat is drying everything and causing static. Not with the humidifier!"

"My experience with Jack was a very positive experience. He was punctual and showed when he said he would. He attempted to diagnose my old system issue for possible repairs before suggesting replacements. With my old system being 15 years old he could have just told me to replace it right away so I appreciate the fact he took the extra time and effort to try to help save money. The replacement of as done promptly, professionally, and he kept me informed every step of the process. I recommend Jack to anyone needing central heat and air work for install, repair, or service."

"Her did an excellent job for replacing the fan motor in my furnace. He did not try to sell me something I didn't need yet. Gave an honest assessment of my heat pump. Heat pump blower works very well!"

"Bill was wonderful! He replaced a very old heat and air unit that I had been looking at other companies to do, the job and all they wanted to do was replace every thing and charge me $10,000. Bill came in and was willing to keep things running as is but gave me such a good price on replacing, the unit that I couldn't refuse. I'm very happy with his work and my home had heat, again in two days. As a side note, his helpers were so nice and there was no mess left and no dead plants, they actually worked around them."

"I cannot speak highly enough of David and his team. When I got a moderately high radon reading on the home I was selling, I had to take care of it quickly so that my closing could go through. David worked me into his schedule and came to my home the day I called. He was delightful, did a thorough inspection, and gave me an estimate. I subsequently got an estimate from another vender, and it was $1,000 more! Not only that, but David had figured out a way to perform the remediation without installing unsightly pipes either on the inside or outside of the house. This involved him working in a very shallow attic space to run the pipes up through the heating ducts, but he was happy to go the extra mile. On the day of the work, David and his wonderful assistant Ryan arrived on time, and spent the better part of a day installing the system. They were convivial and professional without being the least bit instrusive  - I enjoyed the experience! After the installation, David explained it to me in detail, and left a radon kit so that my buyers could check the new levels. Not suprisingly, my buyers are more than happy with the results. If you need to have this job done, call David. You won't regret it!

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Bristol, TN

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
