"The folks at Wheeler Heating and Cooling are very courteous and professional. They show up when they say they will, sometimes even five minutes early! Their technicians are extremely knowledgeable and are looking to fit the needs of the customer, not squeeze as much profit as possible from them. They put the right sized AC unit in for the lowest possible price without sacrificing on quality. Additionally I had to put a call in over the winter for an issue with my furnace and thermostat. They were able to advise me over the phone on how to resolve the issue without charging me. My experience with this company has been all around positive and I will continue to use their services in the future."

"Don installed a radiant wall unit which replaced our old out dated natural gas baseboard heat that was ugly and went around the whole perimeter in our family room. The new unit is sleek, just on one wall and puts out a lot of heat. Don was a pleasure to work with and went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied."

"Dillon was the scheduler and very professionally, let me know all the steps that would happen. He then called when the technician was running late because jobs were taking a bit longer. That was good news to me because it meant to me that the technician was not just going in and putting band-aids on the heating systems but taking the time to fix them. When the technician arrived, he came in with his backpack toolbox, which made me feel like he knew what he was doing (when they come in with nothing in hand, it makes me think they do not know what they are doing). Jared was the technician, and he is professional, he has had the training and experience and uses gages to troubleshoot. He got directly to the problem, focused on it, and fixed it. Absolutely the best experience with a furnace repair person. And the cost, the upfront right from the beginning, and had no curveballs thrown, it was the fairest pricing I have seen on heating repairs. Thank you so much, guys. I have already shared you with my friends!"

"From the very start I was highly impressed with Mr. Electric of Queensbury, NY. My first contact was with a rep, Morgan, who was pleasant, professional and efficient in setting me up with a tech within 2 days. The tech appeared on time as scheduled. He was professional, courteous and very careful about analyzing and remediating the problem. My electrical issue was highly unusual, but Gordon was able to resolve it, and he stayed until the job was finished. I am glad I was able to work with this company."

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.
Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.
With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.
The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.
Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.
An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.
An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
