"If you need superior, professional and punctual technical installation, Top Quality Heating & Cooling is the small business you can rely on. Long story short, older GE furnace started leaking water from unseen rusted coils (thought is was the condenser unit). The tech adviser, Jeremy, evaluated the extent of the problem, gave me choices (cost comparison and warranty information) and placed an order as quickly as possible knowing 90+ temperatures were norm in August! Their administrator, Bethany, kept me informed regarding obtaining the parts from out of State (COVID19 slowed down shipment from local parts warehouses). Three days later a whole new TRANE system has been installed by the best installation team ever: Ferando & Ricardo. Thank you, Team Top Quality!"

"Better than expected. Phil was the only contractor that responded AND came to my house on the same day that I called all the other contractors. He provided me the potential problem for my heat pump issues on the phone that eventually was confirmed during his initial visit and then during disassembly of the old duct system. He was very helpful in providing me additional savings and existing tax credits for the Attic Breeze vent system installed including for the heat pump providing me with the forms. Swift service done on a short time from initial call to complete installation (less than 1 week and completed installation in 7 hours). Great job by the technicians on the installation and housekeeping after the job was completed. Ben A."

"Person scheduled to come did not and replacement person found new repairs to be done. I had to haggle on the price since it went up drastically. When he left after repairing the contactor and capacitor and "cleaning" the unit (running a hose over the coils), AC unit froze over and damaged the furnace. Now we have to replace the whole system when the furnace was in good shape."

"I called Marty’s heating and a/c and they showed up within a few hours from me speaking to them. He was very polite and knowledgeable and patiently and thoroughly explained what needed to be done to fix the problem. My ac was fixed the next day at a very reasonable price. I will contact them for all my heating and ac needs in the future."

"JF Maxwell Co. is very professional. They call you and show up when they say they are going to (I liked the scheduling confirmation email), set proper expectations, and take the time to answer all of your questions. They also go the extra mile for the customer and dont charge you any extra for it. Last weekend in 90 degree temperatures I had no coolant left in my leaking 12 year old HVAC system that we mutually determined would make more sense to buy new than to repair. They agreed to get their supplier to open up the store (who is closed on weekends) to sell them the unit I choose to purchase and install in on Sunday without passing on the additional fee their vendor charged them onto me. They also gave me an upgraded system as they said the incremental cost to them was minimal. They looked at an unrelated problem after finishing and offered advice on it. They even went as far as registering the new product with the manufacturer for me without me even having to ask. I didnt have time to shop around to compare their prices under the circumstances, but they ended up matching what they said without trying to charge me any hidden fees for any of the extras they provided. I am so glad they were there to meet my needs last weekend and prevented me from continuing to roast and missing a critical day of work on Monday. Thank you, Jeremy and Jim."

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in East Ellijay, GA

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
