"Seven of us arrived at the house from Portland on Christmas afternoon and there was no heat. Understandably, it took 3 phone calls but a repairman came at 10:30 pm (on Christmas!) and tweaked something to give us temporary heat until a new furnace could be installed a few days later. They even brought a few space heaters over the following day just in case the short term fix didn't work. Installation went well and we have heat!"

"Leon arrived on the very morning we called. He gave us a 20 minute heads up for his arrival and he was right on time. He quickly set up and evaluated our system and fixed the problem. He reviewed everything with us including sharing photos. He made a few easy suggestions to ward off future issues. Overall, Leon was very knowledgeable and pleasant. The price was great and we feel like Central Oregon Heating and Cooling has our backs for keeping our systems running at their best."

"Drew was in and out within a few hours, we thought we needed a new furnace (not turning on, during the peak of the hot season) but he quickly diagnosed the issue and resolved it. Quick and clean, and we have cooling again."

"Your search for a HVAC installation company is over – Home Heating & Cooling is the company to hire for a HVAC remodel or a duct cleaning job. Ric Secor is the company owner and he personally came to my home and measured it, inspected the ducting, to include suiting up and personally inspecting the crawl space ducting. Ric customized the ducting for the new air handler to make the air flow better and enhance the systems efficiency. He had the ducting in the crawl space shortened if too long and sagging, which was restricting the airflow. He also repositioned the outside heat pump farther away from a sound barrier wall to improve the ventilation of the unit. The install was effortless to us, on time, on budget, had six people on site on the main install day. All of the half dozen Home Heating & Cooling employees were professional and treated my home with respect and care. They provided four space heaters to keep us warm when they disconnected the old system to remove and install the new one. They thoroughly cleaned up after the installation and Riley walked us through setting up the WiFi thermostat and product registration. I was also most impressed with the thoroughness and professionalism of the entire duct cleaning process. The duct cleaning crew of Ashlin and Jeremy were professional, thorough and provided me before and after pictures of all their duct work and cleaning. The entire HVAC remodel and duct cleaning process from Home Heating & Cooling went smoothly from beginning to end and was a completely stress free process. My new Bryant Evolution variable speed heat pump and air handler, with an Aprilaire air filter media, are super quiet and efficient. I enjoy quiet and even heating and cooling though out my entire home. It was outstanding to have my expectations not only met, but also exceeded. I highly recommend Home Heating & Cooling services to my neighbors. And yes, I used Angie's List to select this company after reading their outstanding reviews."

"Excellent. Came quick when others said they were booked for two weeks Price was very affordable and they were willing to work with me if needed. I was afraid I needed a new furnace. Best customer service in years."
Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.
Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.
With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.
The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.
Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.
An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.
An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
