"We needed our 16-year-old HVAC unit replaced, so I narrowed my Angie's List search down to seven Heating & Air Conditioning companies. The ones I chose all had an "A" rating with good reviews. Of those companies, two of them never returned my call, and one didn't work in Los Angeles (it's in Burbank but doesn't work in LA--go figure!). When I called Air-Tech, Heather, the Administrative Assistant, answered the phone--very friendly--and scheduled an appointment. Alex Fish was the Comfort Specialist that came to our home. He was on time, and called me on the road to let me know exactly when he'd arrive. Alex is very knowledgeable; studied every room, looked in the attic where our furnace is located, and examined our condenser and its power supply. Then we sat down and he showed us an illustrated booklet of a house that describes just how an HVAC unit works in a typical home. He walked us through the different systems and gave my wife and me options. He called the office to see if we qualified for an LADWP rebate and a Lennox rebate. We did. None of the other companies we'd seen were this thorough. Before he left, he had written out a detailed proposal including model numbers, what they do, the all-new gas piping, and drain and refrigeration line specifics, etc. Alex was the only person we had seen that wrote a complete proposal before he left the premises. A few days later, I called Alex with additional questions, and he talked to me for 20 minutes answering every question and concern I had. The job took a week to complete, and Carlos and his team covered the work area each day, were very professional and cleaned up at the end of the day, like they had never been there. Many of the technicians have been with Air-Tech for years. To me, that really says something about the company. My wife and I decided to go the permit route. Air-Tech pulled the permits, scheduled the duct testing (we passed), and Heather informed me of what was required with respect to smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors and their proximity to any ceiling fans in our house. Because of her heads-up and the outstanding workmanship of the Air-Tech team, final inspection was a breeze. Two techs even came out to double-check everything before the inspector arrived. I can't say enough about Air-Tech. A company that is honest, professional, and does excellent work. For any heating or air conditioning needs, Air-Tech cannot be beat."

George helped us upgrade to a Goodman heat pump, move the furnace to the attic (we gained a closet!), and add ceiling returns to improve airflow. He listened carefully, offered smart options, and never pushed. George and his apprentice were calm and friendly — even with our very loud dogs. Install day had a couple hiccups: gates and doors left open, and a heavy storage bin left on the attic drywall (thankfully it didn’t fall through). But George’s follow-through made the difference. "My experience with Tim from Efficiency Air was fabulous from the first day that I met him. He was friendly, professional, and after talking with him for several minutes it became clear that he was quite familiar and knowledgeable with HVAC systems. Being that he had a background in mechanical engineering was a big plus. The first thing that he wanted to do before answering our questions was to educate us on the different systems available and how they work. I was impressed by that approach. Our gas furnace was situated in a closet in the center of our house. Since we didn't a want a gas furnace in the house (actually it was my wife that didn't want the gas furnace) we decided on a heat pump condenser which was the best choice for us. It would be installed outside and the air handler, which moves the air, would be installed in our attic. The now empty closet would be converted in to a pantry at a future date. Tim went over the pros and cons of a gas furnace and heat pump. Based on his summation of the pros and cons we decided that the heat pump was the way to go for us. The following day I got his proposal and cost for our system. It was reasonable and I believe a fair price considering the extra cost for new ducting and putting the air handler in the attic. The new ducting made a huge difference. I knew that I would be hiring Tim after he left our home. It was just a gut feeling based on the way he treated us, educated us, being patient with our questions and his superb knowledge of HVAC systems. I made an appointment to have our new system installed one week later. He arrived at the scheduled date early and his crew arrived a few minutes later. Tim told me that he has a habit of arriving early on all his jobs. That also impressed me. There were five guys on site including Tim and they were well organized and got to work immediately. Tim supervised the entire installation. He only left 3-4 times during the day to get parts and meet a customer. They laid out padding to protect our floors and were very careful when working inside our home. His crew were very nice and they worked very hard. I didn't ask many questions but they didn't seem to be bothered when I did asked them a question or two. Tim took his time and explained what was being done. Not only did his crew remove the old furnace from the closet but they cleaned it thoroughly, vacuumed, and cut out all the old ducting, gas line, air vents, etc. and covered the holes that remained. They also did a beautiful job in putting the air handler in the attic. They had to cut an opening in our master bath area to get the air handler in. The opening was finished very nicely. They also had to cut a hole for a new return air filter grill. It was finished beautifully. Tim and his crew completed the work in one day. They cleaned up everything, vacuumed the stairs, the hallway, and the garage where they had staged a work area. I am so very impressed with the work that Tim and his crew did for us. They certainly made every effort to make sure that everything was installed exactly and to our satisfaction. I would highly recommend Efficiency Air to anyone that is considering a new HVAC system. Efficiency Air exceeded my expectations for a job that was exceptionally well done. My wife and I are very happy with our new system. As promised by Tim, we now have exceptional airflow, great heating and air conditioning. Prior to our new system, we basically had nonexistent heat/air in our master bedroom and bathrooms. We now have very comfortable heat/air in these rooms. Tim was easy to talk to. It was like conversing with a good friend. "Our experience with DNA was excellent. As soon as I contacted them, Andrew called and visited us. He quickly inpected our attic, which had had a major rat infestation and extremely old heater ducts. He gave us a reasonable estimate for cleaning and sanitizing the attic, replacing the old insulation, and installing new ducts. The crew of Ivan, Andrew, Amanda and Denicio worked quickly and were very personable, reliable and efficient. They kindly removed all the old boxes stored in the attic which was not part of the original work.
