"I urge everyone to take a look at their HVAC/furnace/boiler/ etc. and if you are staring at it, the way I was, screaming WHAT THE HECK, call Kyle. If you are Youtube how to splice wires to install that smart thermostat, stop it, call Kyle. Seriously, just call Kyle. You hear the horror stories, I called for what I thought was $X and the HVAC tech came and now I have a $200X invoice. That is not the case with Kyle. I have been there, do-it-yourself projects exist, but your heating and cooling is not one of them. Do not believe me, call around; then call Kyle, then call Kyle back because you realize he is available, upfront, and transparent. That is what I did. Kyle helped me demystify my heating and cooling system. Now I stare at my HVAC system, knowing what is what, and how I can quickly troubleshoot it and maintain it. What surprised me the most, this is not what Kyle was required to do. He came to help us with something unrelated. Nevertheless, he stayed late, and answered all the questions my wife and I had; we had a lot. It felt like we had a friend over the entire time. Sure enough, that's how it felt when he left. In conclusion, thank you Kyle for being genuinely you; kind, courteous, and professional. Whether you need a repair or want to prevent one down the road, get with Kyle and learn the ins and outs of how to optimize your home's heating and cooling. Schools in session. Thanks again! P.S. He is great with dogs!"

"Pete was a pleasure to work with. He has a confidence that is backed up with extensive knowledge of A/C and heating systems. We needed a new A/C system, and also boiler repairs and installation of new and improved Honeywell T9 Smart WiFi Thermostats. We had a persistent problem of having a 2 zone heating system yet working on one zone. Pete tackled this difficult problem with confidence and tenacity. I would certainly highly recommend him to anyone looking for an honest, hardworking and dedicated professional such as Pete."

"Our boiler/baseboard hot water heating system wasn?t heating all areas of our house. Ray?s HVAC came out the same day and diagnosed the issue as a faulty pump. They had the pump replaced and the heat working again in no time."

"My furnace/boiler developed an unsalvageable crack and had to be replaced. First call was to that 4 letter company we all know. Second call was to a local plumbing and heating co we had used before. Their estimates werent sitting right with me so I started to research alternatives which brought me here. I was connected with LAMCO. I cannot say enough good words about this company. Fit in quickly onto their schedule?Check. Was told they would be done around 2 or 3 pm? They were done right around if not before 2. Check. Come in WAY WAY under my other estimates? Check. Lamco followed up with my questions over several days as this was a new experience for me making sure my family and me were all set with the new set up. I will be recommending this company to anyone I know that needs plumbing and heating services. Call them and give them a shot. You would be doing yourself a disservice if you dont."

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Passaic, NJ

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
