"All Weather Temperature Control Inc. installed our first central air system back in 1994 and did a great job.  Our Lennox system was still running with never a problem this year but I knew I was pressing my luck going into its 21st year of service.  I got 3 estimates, 1 of which was All Weather.  I only wanted Lennox since our experience was so good with their equipment.  Joe who does proposals came right on time and promptly delivered quotes including options, all explained very well.  We went back and forth a bit on other options and agreed on a system and price.  All Weather handles all the rebates and the rebates specified were higher than the other 2 quotes.  Not sure if someone was taking a piece on rebates with the others or just wrong about the rebates.
Ray, a very experienced installation manager came to inspect the existing system next.  He spent a good deal of time reviewing everything, up in the attic as well, measured everything and completed drawings. The installation was scheduled within a couple of weeks, only delayed a bit by my own work schedule.  An experienced and very pleasant 3 man crew arrived in the morning at the time they said they would and worked hard all day completing the entire installation.  Every bit of the old equipment was carted away.  They worked efficiently and neatly, you couldn't even tell anything this major had gone on other than the visible new WiFi thermostat controller and the great looking compressor unit out back.
I have been a customer since 1994 and I chose All Weather once more, still on a competitive basis, and I am very, very happy I did.  I highly recommend All Weather.

"During the quote period Mario was knowledgeable and provided a quote with options for rebates based on the high efficiency units selected. The Mitsubishi Ductless system have been working great for cooling and Iâ m sure the same will be for the winter with heating. Fallon and Mario, along with their team did a phenomenal job as quickly as possible. As they performed their tasks, the team was courteous, clean and provided communication updates along the way. It was a smooth experience."

"Furnace was not operating because the company's automatic delivery system ran me out of oil.
Technician showed up promptly and got the furnace operating but could not get heat into the house. Had to reschedule to have zone valves replaced. Technician show up late and didn't have the required parts. Had to reschedule again.
The third technician showed up on time with all the correct parts and worked most of the day to get the system operating properly.
He was completely knowledgeable and very conciencious that everything was working correctly.

"I originally reviewed Dawson Mechanical Contracting two years ago when this furnace was originally converted to gas. (Superbly.) I called them again this morning because the overflow tank was leaking water--today is a Saturday after a snowstorm--and Dave and his crew came out a few hours later and repaired the entire thing. (A serious and complicated job.) I'm grateful for the speed and professionalism Dawson Mechanical Contracting showed. My heat is working again, and the price was fair. I recommend these guys without reservation. Two thumbs up."

"The entire process was flawless. In the proposal stage, I was given 4 options detailing prices and differences in each option in great detail. There was also an explanation of why I needed a chimney liner. We signed the contract and work was started almost immediately. I was contacted via text and email with a description of all the techs being dispatched including photos and background information. The techs arrived as stated. My furnace was over 50 years old and in poor shape. The job site was prepared and all the old components were removed leaving the site as clean or cleaner than when they started. The tech fully tested the heat and air conditioning systems and showed me how to use and set up the programmable thermostat. Great job all around."

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Summit, NJ

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
