"I relocated to springfield, ma from columbus, oh and purchased a home with an old oil boiler heat and hot water furnace on its last legs. two days into moving into the home the boiler gave out and had to be replaced, a rather big job. Don Kendall, aka Dk heating was contacted thru home advisor and he immediately came over, checked the internal combustion chamber, diagnostics and tested the electronics, diagnostics and components which were almost burned out. He contacted several suppliers, got prices of replacements, gave me my choice of units and his recommendation and why, then quoted a complete price and stated he could have it done in two days. It's November in New England, no time to waste or hesitate when considering heat and hot water. His workmanship was first rate, the crew was on time, neat, tidy and clean, the system was beautiful and they cleaned up and maintained my home as if it were there own. He phoned for 3 consecutive days following completion of the job to ensure my satisfaction and has my complete trust and appreciation. A credit to the work he does. Please use him."

Customers say: Quality work

"Danny quickly repaired our broken outlet and light switched. Then asked if there was anything else we wanted him to look at so that we'd get the max out of his service call. He looked at one of our cook top that hasn't been working for years and he got it working again. We will call him next time we have an electrical issue!!"

"Call this electrician to fix a blown circuit. Recommendation was to replace an outdated and weak panel. New panel and better circuit breakers were installed as-well-as labeling all breakers (not done on the old panel!). The work was done quickly and with zero problems since. I would call this guy again for any future work needed."

"I called Hurley and David because I was unsatisfied with previous company. Best move ever. Julio was pleasant and very thorough. He took the time to explain everything he found in detail and what the recommendations would be. I learned a lot about my system that I never knew. I would definitely recommend Julio and the Hurley and David company if you’re looking for satisfaction."

"I couldn't have been more pleased with the service from Lowe's Air Duct Cleaning. They arrived a little early (after call me to inform me they were ahead of schedule). They then proceeded to spend the next four hours very thoroughly and carefully cleaning my two HVAC systems' air ducts. My property had been recently remodeled, so there was a lot of dust, but they also found that a lot of junk had been tossed into the floor vents from workers on the project, and so they cleaned it out. Also found that my new heat pump air handler was missing a filter. Again, very courteous, very professional. I would recommend very highly, and will definitely use them again."

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Three Rivers, MA

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
