"It has been a long time ago. They were good. My only problem was in an emergency, they did not return my call and I called someone else. I was very pleased with the new one which was Rohdy's Heating and cooling in Dowagiac. I have used them ever since. I apologize for not being more accurate, but it has been a long time ago."

"I am extremely pleased with Gnoth & Naragon! I made several phone calls to other local providers trying to get my ecobee4 thermostat installed. Unfortunately, no one else wanted to do it (or didn't pick up the phone) because I hadn't purchased the thermostat from them. I spoke with the owner's wife at first and then a few days later the regular receptionist called back to confirm everything. They were both extremely helpful and kind of shocked that no one else wanted to install our new thermostat! I also decided, since they were so helpful, to go ahead and get our furnace serviced/cleaned. Now, I know our furnace is old (20+ years) and it has some issues, but there was no pressure to purchase a new one. The gentleman that serviced our furnace said that it was old, but it worked. So, I'm getting a quote from them for a new furnace. I'll let you know how that goes."

"The representative who has been taking care of me here is James. He is on top of the line. The thoroughness and efficieny which James have performed not only with my heating but also my air conditioning are probably the reasons why I'm staying with them. I'm confident I know what he's gonna do. I know I don't have to watch over him because he will do a good job. He has been in the industry and he knows. I feel very confident. I would give him A all the way round."

"SAMS diligent staff saved our lives. Literally. Maddie in scheduling was persistent in making sure our annual furnace cleaning and service occurred. Jeremy came out to service our furnace. He found a large crack in the furnace and as required and because he is a professional service technician shut it down. His action and the fact he was there the day before a cold front moved through our area prevented us from starting up the furnace for the first time this season. We would have gone to bed and probably never woke up. Thanks Sam for building a fabulous company and very dedicated employees! Also would like to acknowledge Sam, Jimmy, R.J. and Zachary who spent a long day replacing our furnace Remember to check your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms on a regular basis."

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Union, MI

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
