"I have had air systems mechanical install my high efficiency furnace few years ago and recently install my central air. Their prices are lower than the rest. They are always courteous and professional from salesman to office staff. I have nothing negative to say. Always on time for routine furnace tune up appointments. A great company to deal with."

"Had a great experience with North Pittsburugh Heating. After getting screwed around by our home warranty company for almost 5 weeks (Choice home warranty btw, never use this scam of an agency), I contacted Tim independently to see how quick he could come out and get us a new condenser unit. Tim came out that very day to look at it and got our AC fixed within a week's time at a very good price. The tech's he sent to our house to do the job were also very courteous and helpful, amazing company! A major breath of fresh air after the nightmare we were dealing with previously. We'll definitely be using them in the future for our HVAC needs."

"John did a wonderful job was prompt professional pinpointed the problem right from the get go! I live in a modular home got an old 1996 coleman furnace where parts are hard to come by on such a short notice, but John had the part needed! John also provided troubleshooting problems to look out for. John advised I buy some carbon monoxide detectors to be on the safe side. I am really pleased with his service I will definitely use him again! Thank you so much John for a great job and a great price much appreciated! Nick Russo"

"Old furnace quit working during coldest day of the year. Two other companies came out, deemed it unrepairable and gave estimates that were high. Kohl called back on a Friday night and actually came out on a Saturday to look at it and give an estimate. They were the lowest out of the three and for a lot higher quality units with more features. Plus, it was the actual owner with many years of experience and extreme knowledge that came to the house. That type of service was really appreciated. The installers were at the house within three days. The install was a two and a half day project. From start to finishâ ¦.the word seamless would be an understatement. I would highly recommend Kohl Heating to all."

"Matt from Home Mechanix came to fix a problem with our aging natural gas furnace. Despite a difficult troubling shooting effort, he was able to find new parts and repair the problem in just a few days. He was personable, on-time, and charged us a fair price."

In the middle of July, when the thermometer is pushing past 100 degrees Fahrenheit, air conditioning isn't a luxury that's nice to have in Pittsburghit's an absolute necessity that you don't want to live without. It's obviously a disaster when your air conditioner grinds to a halt on the hottest day of the year. But it's also incredibly frustrating to deal with an AC unit that only "kind of" works and is struggling to get your house down to the temperature on your thermostat or control humidity levels. When you notice those types of annoying issues, it's necessary to get professional Pittsburgh air conditioner repair services before the problem worsens and you're left sweltering in an overheated house.

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.
Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.
With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.
The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.
Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.
An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.
An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
