"They installed new insulation for us in an um-insulated attic space. They were well-priced, on-time, and very easy to work with. Workers all wore protective equipment and were both professional and friendly."

"Westside Drywall was the only firm willing to do what I requested, which was to repair and not replace under-floor insulation. As a result, their price was much lower. An added bonus was that they could schedule the job in a few days instead of a few weeks or months."

"2 Pro Construction insulated under my home and also installed new siding. Alan is accountable and easy to contact. There was one hiccup in the job but he was very fair and I was extremely happy with the end result. A few weeks after the job was completed I had a Pest Control Company come out, the man said he goes under many homes but has never seen a better job than 2 Pro did. He said was so clean and meticulously done that he would eat his lunch under there! Alan also sent me pictures of the underneath so that I could see their fabulous job. I would highly recommend 2 Pro Construction."

"Phil did quite a bit of work for me. He installed an attic ladder, attic insulation, an attic floor plus some minor electrical wiring/lighting in the attic in 2012. This was a difficult project because my ceilings are weirdly tall --- 12' almost. So he had to make some modifications to the standard Calvert attic ladder. That was all fine, but a few days ago, when I came home, I discovered the ladder had opened by itself and all of the folded 12 feet of it came crashing down. A couple of parts were broken and reason the latch failed needed to be looked at. I contacted Phil and he wanted to come as early as possible the next day - a Saturday. He was prompt and efficient in diagnosing the problem (probably the latch catch plate needed to be shimmed out a little). Calvert was no longer in business, so Phil had some ideas about how to fix the broken bits and re-attach the spring to the ladder hatch - making some parts himself. He proposed taking the entire hatch off and taking it back to his shop to make a strong and dependable repair. He came back with the repaired hatch and shims for the latch the next day. All was installed quickly and efficiently - and he asked for no additional money (beyond what I paid for the ladder originally in 2012)."
Local and federal rebates are available for insulation installation, which can significantly reduce your overall costs. Many utility companies offer incentives or rebates to homeowners who improve their home's energy efficiency. Contact your local energy provider or government agencies to learn about available programs in your area, and consult with a professional insulation installer to maximize your savings.
It's not necessary to remove old insulation before adding new insulation, as long as the existing insulation is in good condition—dry, free of mold, and not damaged. Adding new insulation on top of old insulation can improve your home's energy efficiency by increasing the overall R-value. However, if the old insulation is wet, moldy, or damaged, it's best to remove it before installing new insulation to prevent potential health risks and ensure optimal performance.
Insulating a house takes between five and twelve hours for batts or boards, and two to five hours for spray foam or blown-in insulation. The exact time depends on the size of your home, the type of insulation, and the accessibility of the areas being insulated. Keep in mind that projects may take longer if old insulation needs removal, if there's a larger square footage, or if spaces are difficult to reach.
