"I want everyone to know that this man is wonderful and that he took his day off to come help us. He could have charged us a lot more money. BUT found a way to fix what we had and charged us about half the price. I love this guy. The only thing that I thought was weird was he asked my handicap husband (stroke) if he wanted to leave a tip. So being the husband of a bartender, he said OK how about 15.00 dollars and on the bill was 24 dollars and something. I just think this was strange. Do I think this guy deserved a tip? Yes absolutely. But I may be out if touch , but I've never heard of a locksmith getting a tip much less the owner of a business asking if you want to tip them, even in the bar business the owner never takes a tip. But that being said I think in this line of business you should just include an extra charge as travel or administration charges. It would be more professional. But let me make it very clear I love this guy and I am happy to pay him know matter how he puts it. He is honest and compassionate. My door would not open from the inside of the house, but it would open from outside the house. Not very secure for elderly and handicap people. This wonderful man came all they from his home an hour and a half away on his day off to help us.I would recommend this man to everyone. Thanks Calab for being so honest and compassionate. You Rock!!!!!"

"Choice responded quickly but the insurance plan does not pay for all doors to be re-keyed unless you have very few locks. The number of locks covered by the insurance is determined by keyholes, not doors! (Read your policy!) You will likely have to shell out some money to have this essential new-home service if you have more than four keyholes. The locksmith they called was EXCELLENT and made all our locks completely functional. We will happily hire the locksmith again (R.L Locksmith LLC). We paid $201.81 (plus another $50 for some door re-alignment not included in the re-keying benefit) and Choice paid $100 for the job."

Start by searching a trusted directory for locksmiths in your area and reading recent customer reviews. Confirm that each candidate holds state-required licenses, maintains active insurance, and is a member of professional groups such as ALOA. Before you schedule, ask for a written estimate, proof of credentials, and references. Finally, verify the company’s physical address (not just a P.O. box) and check that the technician arrives in a marked vehicle and uniform.
Door locks must be replaced immediately when key security is compromised. Replace your locks when moving into a new home, after any burglary or attempted break-in, or when you lose a key that reveals your address. This practice strictly prevents unauthorized access and maintains a secure environment by ensuring that only trusted individuals have access to your home.
Rekeying a lock requires 10 to 15 minutes per unit when performed by a skilled professional. This efficient process resets the lock’s internal pins to work with a new key, rendering all previous keys ineffective. Rekeying offers a fast and secure solution that enhances your home security without disrupting your daily routine.
Security starts before the locksmith turns the first screw. Ask the dispatcher for the technician’s name, company ID, and arrival time, then confirm that information at the door. Once the job is done, request an itemized invoice and test every repaired lock yourself. Keep any old hardware or keys the professional removes and ensure they are either left with you or destroyed, so no surplus keys are left behind.
