"Excellent and meticulous. The owner is a very hard working young man. He is honest. The work was done on time and itâ s beautiful. He built a tree deck on our lake cottage. Definitely a great choice in builders. The pricing was very fair."

Small jobs welcome

"i give this company my highest rating. If I could give give more than 5 stars I would. He is THE CONSUMMATE PROFESSIONAL. Mr L*** is very obvious in his perfectionism. I don't know about anyone reading this review, but when I have someone working in and on my home, I want someone who is a perfectionist. On time, thorough, honest, professional, clean, courteous, . I will use them again and will recommend them to all my friends and family. I cannot say enough about how careful he is. I would hire him again and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU HIRE HIM FOR DRYWALL WORK AND PAINTING. For details about our experience, please read further. We had 2 areas that needed drywall repair, and repainting. An 18" wide x floor to celling part of the living room wall which was saturated from the water dam leak. And the back room that had needed insulation in the ceiling and walls to make it comfortable to live in. The insulation company had to tear off the ceiling to insulate under the roof deck. We needed new drywall. Mr L***'s quote was reasonable. He was careful with our floors and other surfaces. He placed drop cloths on the floors and cautioned his employees to be extra careful when stepping off the drop cloths to be sure they did not have anything on the bottom of their shoes that they could track into the other rooms. I saw them all doing that throughout the time they were working in our house. He draped our furniture in the living room when it came time to spray the texture on the wall and created a tent around that area . One day, he wanted to get the drywall taped & mudded so it could dry overnight. He asked if he could work into the evening. I didn't have a problem with that, and said yes. He worked until 9:30! That wall had been so wet from the water leak that the water remediation team had to pull out the insulation and the backer board that is directly in back of the exterior wall sheathing. Mr L*** not only had to replaced the drywall, he replaced the cement backer board inside the wall, replaced insulation, AND THEN replaced the drywall. Our house is 70 years old and the design in those days was not a sharp right angle between the wall & ceiling. The wall does a gentle curve up into the ceiling. He did such a perfect repair, you cannot tell where he did the repair. Perfection!!! I knew that we would not be able to match the paint color, (the previous owner had not left any paint) so I had him add painting the room. He graciously said he could do that, and quoted me a reasonable price. The room looks so nice and inviting, he even helped us choose the color, Then they hung the drywall ceiling in the back room, That quote included painting the ceiling and when we all realized that the walls would need painting, he quoted me a great price for that. The room is awesome. And then, on the day he was finishing, I had an electric company adding some additional outlets in the living room and they knocked a hole in the wall approx 8 " wide x 12" high. Not exactly the small rectangle for the outlet. They told me they were not responsible and would not pay to have it fixed. Mr L*** looked at the hole and said he could fit it into his schedule the next day if I was flexible on time. He showed up the next day and repaired that hole and now you cannot tell where it was. You will not be sorry if you hire GRPainting Pro."

FAQs for painting projects in Chippewa Lake, MI

Most homeowners opt for semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make the baseboards stand out against the walls. If you’d rather keep things subtle, matching the wall sheen with eggshell or satin also works well. When your trim has nicks or dents, reach for a flatter, matte finish—it hides minor imperfections better than a shiny coat.

Stripping old paint from trim costs $1 to $3 per linear foot. Pros use specialized tools and techniques to lift away existing layers without gouging the wood, then prep the surface for a fresh finish. While it adds to your budget, proper removal protects the molding and sets the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting paint job.

Tackling the baseboards first often leads to crisper lines. Painting trim first lets you tape off the boards instead of the walls, so you’re less likely to splatter color where you don’t want it. Any stray marks on the wall get covered when you roll on the final coat, making the whole process faster and tidier.

You can absolutely paint baseboards in place. Leaving them installed avoids the risk of cracking or misaligning the boards when they’re reattached. With thorough cleaning, light sanding, and careful taping, a pro—or an experienced DIYer—can achieve a sharp, factory-smooth finish while saving you the hassle of prying off and reinstalling trim.

Painting almost always beats replacement in cost. Swapping out baseboards runs about $150 in DIY materials or roughly $1,100 with a pro, while repainting costs about $50 in supplies and $1 to $5 per square foot for labor. Unless the boards are warped or severely damaged, a fresh coat delivers the same visual upgrade for a fraction of the price.

Paintable caulk and wood filler are the go-to fixes for nail holes in baseboards. Wood filler sands flush for a glass-smooth surface, while caulk provides a flexible seal that won’t crack as the house settles. Either way, patching those tiny divots before you prime ensures your finished baseboards look seamless.
